Lap Steel (HEY JEROME!!!)

Any lap steel players have any idea which tuning (and type of strings) I should buy if I'm going to be using lap steel for bluesy stuff?

Jerome you recently purchased a Magnatone right? Did you get it set up? What tuning are you using?

Re: Lap Steel (HEY JEROME!!!)

I'm still working ont the amp (lots of caps to get replaced) but I've played the guitar a bit.   The tuning pegs are original, and will either need rebuilt or replaced.  When I do that, I'll restring it with some John Pearce strings, as big, fat, and gnarly as I can find.

Someday we'll win this thing...

bald guitar  dude, put a set of nickels on her.  thicker guage strings stay in tune better, and use any open tuning you can  easily remember the notes to tune to, example DADGAD, or DADF#AD(major) or DADFAD(minor) and KISS,  good luck.
