just a thought. i know the i-pad is great, just wondering how it would cope memory wise as multi track recording can eat up memory like no-one's business. give it a go though and let us know how you get on. i've seen several solo acts using them on stage as backing, but they had the bigger memory.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Garage Band. It should be on the device when you buy it. Very powerful but may require a teen-ager to use to its full potential. I have a MAC Book Air and I sue the software on it. Fun, but I can't really play and don't know much more about recording.

+1 for Garageband on ipad. I have this setup and although I have not done any serious recording, I am having a lot of fun experimenting. You will need an Apogee Jam (or similar device) also to connect your guitar to the ipad.
There are plenty of tutorials on utube using ipad, garageband, apogee jam etc. Well worth a look.
