I am primarily a guitarist, although I dabble in Mandolin now and then. I got a Uke as a gift, and my wife, who is not an instrumentalist, expressed an interest in learning Uke to accompany me when I mess about.
Is there a tuning for uke that will allow for 1 finger/barre chording, to simplify playing major chords? It sounds like a really stupid question when I ask it, but I just now found a tuning guide/chord chart for uke, and I know that with standard tuning, my wife will be unable to learn it. We're both in our 60's with arthritis and all. Any help out there?

I have been experimenting with using finger barring to simplify my chord changes on the Uke. I've got the basics down, so now I just play and try different things and see what works.

Hi, I found a book that has the chords. It's called "The Daily Ukulele" compiled by Liz and Jim Beloff. Published by Hal.Leonard and Flea Market Music, Inc. fleamarketmusic.com
I found the book in a local music shop. It's a great book and has 365 tunes with chords and diagrams.

Hi nashflasher,go too a song you like and look on the right side of it a little ways down and you click on tuning this will have ukule chords for it. You should start your on post when you are here you get better results then adding on too the other members.

I know that we almost do stuff online but there are still stuff that we need that are seen or found in an actual music shop. Go to a music shop within your place and grab a ukulele book for chord chart.
