A few on here I have heard and like alot.. Cheryl Wheeler, Greg Isakov.. excellent musicians and songwriters. Here's a band that I've recently have been smitten with... The Black Lillies. If you haven't heard them or heard of them.. check "em out.. I"ve seen them live a couple of times.. so good, so gracious.. they really bring it all together.

OK, beamer./ I admit those aren't too bad. I'd throw both hips out trying to dance to them though. This is more my league.

Pete, I knew you had some metal in ya. I love the Scorpions and I like at the hop also!

The Skorps song was great. I have always enjoyed watching/listening to my favorite metal groups play with a symphony. Had a chance to catch Styx with the Cleveland Contemporary Youth Orchestra on TV one day. Those kids were all rocking out and made the concert even funner to watch.
The first band I heard with an orchestra was Metallica. I still play those songs and I imagine that the members of the orchestra loved plaing with them and enjoyed doing something a bit different.
Anyhoo, one band of mine is well known but, to me, did not get enough credit: Collective Soul. The second band was a band from New Orleans called Zebra. Their two most well-known songs got alot of airplay in 1984:

Tell Me What You Want: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAl1nrRq … re=related
I like rock, the heavier the better but I truly enjoy groups that have the sound that Zebra had.

I think the Roger Guppy Algarve rock Choir will be my choice, though it is known too some of us here at chordie.

An almost unknown guitarist I enjoy is Austrian Bernhard Beidl, who currently tours & records with Tangerine Dream. I've mentioned him to a lot of guitarists and no one's ever heard of him. Although TD are primarily thought of as an electronic group, check out one of Beidl's solos in this clip (1:40 - 2:50) recorded live in Zurich last Spring:

He's playing an Ibanez "S-series" or "RGA-series", with 7 strings .... the thing really growls! Another terrific guitarist is Croatian Zlatko Perica who also toured & recorded with TD. I'm convinced that there's a lot more talent out there than the select few that the mainstream media publicizes, and ... many of them likely prefer it that way!

I just recently listened to a trio called "California Guitar Trio ". They are three guys from three different countries with completely different sounds, playing together. They are absolutely amazing. It took a friend from Barcelona Spain who turned me on to them. I have never heard anything like them. Definitely worth checking out.

I went to a Tommy Emanuel and Michael Kelsey concert Friday night. Awesome pair individually and together. Enjoyed it very much and will look for them again when they come back.

Charles ...
I wonder if the California Guitar Trio is in any way related to the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet (Bill Kanengiser, Scott Tennant, Andrew York, John Dearman). I've got a 1996 CD by them which is all classical and lots of fun. They conclude with something they call the "Pachelbel Loose Canon", which has a bunch of variations of the original played in different styles, with a banjo even thrown in at the end.

Mike Masse is amazing. I'm going to make the hop up to SLC as soon as he starts playing again....

Lots of great music and bands in the previous threads. It's been mega ages since I've heard Tangerine Dream, Wow that brings back alot of memories. Good to hear they are still playing.
Thanks for that TF along with your mention of Budgie in a different thread.
So many memories...barely left (LOL)
Cheers
