Topic: Blue Ridge Blue

A little song about missing the mountains I grew up in.

Blue Ridge Blue By Jeff Gilpin

September 9, 2012

Verse 1

When [D]I was a [F]boy

I moved to a [C]home

[G]Out in the mountains

The place I would [D]roam

Nestled in a [F]valley

Far from city [C]life

[G]Surrounded by ridges

Reaching up to the [D]sky

Chorus 1

They were [F]Blue [C]Ridge [D]blue

Rising [F]up in the [C]air

[G]Tall as the [F]heavens

I [G]just stood and [D]stared

At the [F]Blue [C]Ridge [D]blue

The [F]colors so [C]deep

And I [G]drank in the [F]sight

I was [G]trying to [D]keep

Verse 2

Years passed on [F]by

And I moved a[C]way

[G]Into the city

Where I had to [D]stay

Closer to [F]work

Civili[C]zation

[G]Far from my thoughts

But in my imagi[D]nation I saw

Chorus 2

[F]Ridges [C]so [D]blue

Rising [F]up in the [C]air

[G]Tall as the [F]heavens

I i[G]magined they were [D]there

Those [F]ridges [C]so [D]blue

The [F]colors so [C]deep

And [G]I drank in the [F]sight

I could [G]see it in my [D]sleep

Verse 3

Years upon [F]years

I’m still in the [C]city

Built [G]with a keen eye

To some maybe [D]pretty

I guess they looks [F]fine

But I feel no [C]joy

Like in the [G]Blue Ridge mountains

I grew up in as a [D]boy

Chorus 3

With the [F]ridges [C]so [D]blue

Rising [F]up in the [C]air

[G]Tall as the [F]heavens

I still i[G]magine I’m [D]there

The [F]ridges [C]so [D]blue

The [F]colors so [C]deep

I [G]drink in the [F]sight

That I [G]see it in my [D]sleep

Re: Blue Ridge Blue

Nice.  It inspires me to try something about the mountains too.  Unfortunately, Eddie From Ohio already wrote a song that captures my feelings about the blue ridge.
