Re: REFLECTIONS(DREAM ON)

I like it Russell. Easy to listen to and nice flow.

Live in the "now" - a contentment of the moment - the past is gone - the future doesn't exist - all we ever really have is now and it's always "now".

Re: REFLECTIONS(DREAM ON)

nicely done

Re: REFLECTIONS(DREAM ON)

I like  it  Russell your  voice  is  good  and  really  suits  the song.

Re: REFLECTIONS(DREAM ON)

nice, blues-y laid back bit of soul russ. good story too, with a message. i like the key changes in the chorus. i'd like to hear it fully orchestrated?

phill

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

thanks blue jeep,Grah 1and brooklin for your nice words I appreciate it

Phill thank you I had the music before I wrote the lyrics and sat down yesterday and put some words to it the key changes in the chorus kind of set a different feeling to it there not normally used this way I kind of think it should be kept simple not that a full orchestration wouldn't be nice but it might take away the simplicity but if your inclined you have my okee dokee to test these waters smile

Re: REFLECTIONS(DREAM ON)

Every now and then I'll hear a song and think "Damn, I wish I'd wrote that!".

Well, this is one of those songs.  The prosody between the lyrics, melody, chord progressions and rhythm is spot on.  I agree that adding orchestration would be like an artist throwing more paint on a canvass after he's created a masterpiece.  I've always been attracted to the simplicity often found in well-written songs and this is no exception.

Just an excellent job Russell.  I REALLY like the song - probably the best original I've heard on chordie.

I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.

Re: REFLECTIONS(DREAM ON)

i think i should clarify, what i meant by orchestrated was with bass and drums and maybe an organ or electric piano? i didnt mean full concert orchestra, tympani and chorus. simple without killing the beauty of the piece, "like a clock that no-one winds"

I did and sent you my reply just make sure you use a metronome to keep your parts spot on meter wise and not to heavy on the drums

Russell  - I loved the song - especially the passion that emerged as you sang it.  Well done !!
