Topic: Away in a Day

Sorry if this is a little depressing, but my sons wife has just up and left him without a word, well she left him a letter, took his young son and all the furnature but no explination as to why. This is the way my mind works things out.

Away In A Day. Undefined

[D] Remember that day by the [Em7/9] river?

Where the [C] willows were [G] heavy with [D] leaves.

And the sun made it's way 'cross the [Em7] heavens.

And you [C] promised your [G] love just for [D] me.

If [Bm] only I [Bm/A] knew what I [Bm/Ab] know now, [G] then.

I could've [Em] saved myself all of this [A7] pain.

Through the [D] good and the bad times.

The [Em7] love and the hate.

Like a [C] fool I would [G] do it [D] again.

I haven't the heart to forget [Em7] you.

You've [C] been a big [G] part of my [D] life.

I'll never forget what you've [Em7] done for me.

And I'll [C] never [G] forgive all your [D] lies.

If [Bm] only I [Bm/A] knew what I [Bm/Ab] know now, [G] then.

I could've [Em] saved myself all of this [A] pain.

Through the [D] good and the bad times.

The [Em7] love and the hate.

Tell you [C] dear I would [G] do it [D] again.

[Bm] Heaven [Bm/A] forgives yet the [Bm/Ab] sin is still [G] there.

But you [Em] sinned against me not the [A7] God up above.

The [D] love that I thought would be [Em7] there all our lives.

You've [C] thrown it [G] away in a [D] day.

You've [C] thrown it [G] away in a [D] day.

Re: Away in a Day

just a note; the Em7/9 that i play is not as shown in the diagram, i play (more or less) a G chord playing D on the B string and playing the open E on the E string, so the chord name i have given it is wrong?

oh and it's a waltz

you'll find the track here;    https://soundcloud.com/tags/folk

Sorry about your son and his wife leaving. I know it hurts as his father. Making music is good medicine for what ails you.

phill
like the arrangement very much !  reminds of the Beatles song, Norwegian Wood, a bit.  The lyrics are very well done !!!!  loads of emotion, thoughts going in several directions, just as one would imagine in such a scenario.

Well done my  friend from Wales !
