Topic: Age-ism

Ageism  by Graham Windle

I feel  there's a lot  of Ageism in the  UK  so  I  wrote  this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VP3viqi1THg

Em
The daylight comes
G
The night is over
D
another  day begins
Em                                G
the morning sun sneaks through the  window
       D               A
To wake me up again
Em
I make the coffee
G
Make the  breakfast
      D                  A
Feed the cat and then

Em                         G
sit  and watch the world revolving
         D                       A
tomorrow  will be  the  same

Chorus
G                                      A
and I wonder what  will  happen now
Em
what  will time unfold
G                                     A
and I  wonder what  will happen now
Em
Am I just growing old

The post man knocks
he brings a letter
another bill  to pay
got no time for conversation
he just walks away
cant he see that I'm a person
though I'm old and grey
wouldn't cost or take a moment
to ask if I'm ok
Chorus
G                                      A
and I wonder what  will  happen now
Em
what  will time unfold
G                                     A
and I  wonder what  will happen now
Em
Am I just growing old

Stumble back
turn on the TV
listen to the news
cant believe what is out  there
just gives me the blues
cant be bothered change the  channel
got to crack a smile
cant believe how much they're  paying
to employ Jeremy Kyle

Chorus

G                                      A
and I wonder what  will  happen now
Em
what  will time unfold
G                                     A
and I  wonder what  will happen now
Em
Am I just growing old

G                                      A
and I wonder what  will  come to pass
Em
and will my dreams come true
G                                     A
one thing I know that is for sure
Em
Old age will come to you .

Re: Age-ism

Another good song Graham. I am sure a ton of folks will relate to this one. Can't wait to get home and give it a twirl.

Thanks  I  appreciate the feed back.

Re: Age-ism

in defense of postmen, our local guys are all really friendly and will give a nod or smile and say hello.

there is a lot of ageism as TV seems to be aimed at the under 30's.

having said that your song rings true. well written and observed, nice one graham...

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: Age-ism

Thanks Phill yeah our  postman's ok too  really  ,thanks for the  nice comments ,I  thought  of  playing  this at Kendal the  other night  but  the  audience  were  great and  I  didn't  want to  seem to be  having a go at  any one  I'll probably  save it  for an album track  .
