Topic: ChordieStock Las Vegas 2015

It has been suggested that we put together a west coast meet up. I am happy to volunteer my house, which is conveniently located just 8 minutes from McCarran Airport in Las Vegas. There are two ways we can do this:

1. Plan the meet up for this summer with the intention of using my pool and drinkin' outside but playing guitar mostly inside. I have two jam rooms so this should not be an issue.
2. Plan the meet up for this fall and jam all day in the yard.

Please reply and let me know if you're interested and which option you prefer. I have room for a few guests, particularly the type that don't mind air mattresses. Also the South Point Casino and M Casino are under two miles from my home. There's also a doubletree nearby.

Re: ChordieStock Las Vegas 2015

You know Joe, I've been through there a few times in the last five years or so and always meant to touch bases with you in passing.... but always just "blowing through town" on the way to Phoenix or back home.  So I'm gonna tenatively say I'll be there!

Personal preference is in the Fall (that part of the world gets BLAZING Hot in the summer!) and it takes awhile to adapt to the climate without "wilting"  (especially us Northwest Rainforest varieties).  It's ONLY about an 18 hour drive..... So I might look into flying.... or not.  Gotta talk it over with the "better half" but she's a good girl who was "up" for camping in the desert for 5 months straight, winter before last. So we might make it a "family outing".

Re: ChordieStock Las Vegas 2015

Sweet! And Topdown mentioned he's interested so I think we have a party!

Re: ChordieStock Las Vegas 2015

I have a trip planned the weekend of 6/20, and there is another gathering happening the weekend of Sept 19th that I am planning on attending, but other than that summer or fall sounds great to me. I've never been to Vegas and have always wanted to go.  Have many frequent flier miles, will travel! And as much as I drink, I can pretty much crash anywhere. smile

Jeff would earlier September work?

August will still be blazing hot.

Might need to consider October.

Re: ChordieStock Las Vegas 2015

Depends upon your budget.  It's not a newer property but it's in a fun part of town! Lots to do right there.

Re: ChordieStock Las Vegas 2015

Hey guys- I can get big condos in Vegas through my timeshare, so we would have a cheap but nice place to crash and burn. I am up for it. Like Topdown, I am trying to make the 6/20 NOVA Potomac party and perhaps the late Aug party, though I have a gig in Bar Harbor, Maine in late August- early Sept. Party on, Wayne! party on, Garth!

Re: ChordieStock Las Vegas 2015

Joe - I'm thinking October would be best for me, but not sure if that is still pool weather for you. I'd likely still make it early Sept if that id better for you

Re: ChordieStock Las Vegas 2015

Bumping this thread.

Who is interested in an early October trip to Las Vegas for some jamming? I'm thinking the weekend of October 9, 10, and 11.

There's "something" going on in Vegas that weekend, although I have no idea what it is. Rooms are a bit more expensive than usual but they aren't too bad. There's a Hampton Inn near me that's $100 bucks a night when it's normally $80.

Jeff, others? If we get a few of y'all together I can get a group rate.

Re: ChordieStock Las Vegas 2015

Joe - I'm heading to see Wayne in SD the middle of Sept, so I'm going to have to pass on Vegas this time around. Limited vacation time and travel funds - you understand. I'd still love to make the trip in the future though and would think with some planning time, you could attract a big crowd - I mean, who doesn't want to go to Vegas?!

Chordiestock IV will be the weekend of 3/18 - 3/20/16 - please put it on your calendar, would love to have ya!

Re: ChordieStock Las Vegas 2015

topdown,

We'll have to see healthwise how things go. I had forgotten you and your association with past get-togethers, so here's yet another venue for us to consider. Closer to the shrimp, too! big_smile

Bill

PS: I meant to add that at least at Madeira we'd have something to see, wouldn't we? Here it's basically just Civil War stuff, The Coca Cola Museum and road kill. big_smile : D: D

Well Joe that is as good a date as any I suppose....... except, it happens to be the projected delivery date of our first Grandchild (9 October, a Girl).  Don't you just hate it when life gets in the way?

I can picture it now:  Me walking out the door of the delivery room (guitar case in hand), telling the "Grandma to be"
"Honey you and the kids can handle this.... I gotta go to Vegas and make music with a couple friends over a six pack.".

That loud noise you will hear is not a sonic boom from Creech, it would be the sound of my coffin lid slamming !! Followed by the aftershock of the oven door delivering my carcass to one of the onliest places on the planet hotter than Stovepipe Wells (Death Valley) in mid-July.

Thanks for the Invite, but I too must reluctantly decline this time around.

This is too funny not to share: Here is BGD original quote:

No I won't be a dad again. Was just being a smartass.

Here's the way Bill's eyes and brain interpreted it:

No I won't be a dad again. Was just being a mattress.
