Topic: 'Broken' by mazzy catseyes

Here is my new song. Another one with deep feeling, much to my surprise.
I felt like I had already run out of ideas, so I wrote another silly song, which I didn't record.
Then this one sort of unlocked in me.
You can find it on soundcloud under mazzy catseyes.
Feedback is welcomed.

Broken - © Marian Kerr, 2015

[C] Lyin' all alone on the [G7sus4] cold side of the [G7] bed
[F] Tryin' to forget those [G7] cruel words that were [C] said
There's pain in my [Csus4] heart and [G7sus4] tears on my [G7] face
[F] Hurtin' so [F7] deep that [G7] time won't [C] erase

[Dm7] Lo-[G7sus4]-one-[C]ly (lonely)
I'm so
[Dm7] Lo-[G]-o-[G7]ne-[C]ly

[C] I never thought that life would [G7sus4] turn out this [G7] way
[F] Now it seems there's [G7] no words left to [C] say
There's ice in the [Csus4] place where my [G7sus4] heart used to [G7] be
I [F] never thought [F7] you could [G7] stop lovin' [C] me

[Dm7] E-[G7sus4]mp-[C]ty (empty)
so very
[Dm7] E-[G]-[G7]emp-[C]ty

[C] I look in the mirror and I [G7sus4] see only [G7] pain
And [F] wonder if I'll ever [G7] feel whole a-[C]gain
Shattered dreams [Csus4] lie in [G7sus4] pieces on the [G7] floor
I [F] just don't [F7] want this [G7] heartache any-[C]more

[Dm7] Bro-[G7sus4]-o-[C]ken (broken)
my heart's
[Dm7] Bro-[G]-o-[G7]o-[C]ken

[Dm7] Bro-[G7sus4]-o-[C]ken
my heart's
[Dm7] Bro-[G]-o-[G7]o-[C]ken

[Dm7] Bro-[G7]o-[C]ken (fade)

Re: 'Broken' by mazzy catseyes

great  lyrics    Mazzy  would  make  a   good blues  song

Re: 'Broken' by mazzy catseyes

Thanks easybeat.
Thanks Grah1. I've got this on soundcloud under mazzy catseyes.
It feels like a blues song to me, but I'm not sure my delivery fits into that genre.
Have you any suggestions on how I could make it sound more bluesey - I'm quite new to this.
I dream of waking up to find that I have developed a lovely deep gravelly voice, but I can;t see that happening any time soon smile

Re: 'Broken' by mazzy catseyes

Grah1 has done an arrangement of my song 'Broken'. Quite a different arrangement - different key, fewer chords, different phrasing, choruses run together as a bridge and a great guitar solo at the end.

We can learn so much from each other here. Thanks for taking the time Grah1 - it's cool.

You can hear his version on my soundcloud - mazzy catseyes.

Here are the chords for his arrangement.

That is a very well written song.  Thanks for sharing it.

Re: 'Broken' by mazzy catseyes

lovely job mazzy, and grah of-course with your own interpretation, can i sense a hemispherical collab coming on here?

ps, it would help less PC silversurfers like moi, if you gave us the link to follow...pleeeese.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: 'Broken' by mazzy catseyes

Notes left for you on both versions, Mazzy and Graham. I loved both versions, by the way. I could have copied and pasted the comments from SOundCloud, but I want you to go to where you made your music and read them there. Much more fitting, in my eyes?

A note to my other friend, Graham: When you wrote the title of your version of Mazzy's tune. I got the idea for a new song I'd like to try. Know what it's called?

Thanks TIGLJK. I appreciate the positive feedback.

Thanks too to Phill. I hadn't put up links to any of my songs because when I signed up it came up with a no-link or get banned sort of message.
Here are the links to my song and Grah1's cover. Hopefully this is okay now.

Thank you. (for once I have no more words)

Re: 'Broken' by mazzy catseyes

None needed. Just tried to show how much I liked your music.

Offended?

Your problem, I sure didn't intend it that way.

Yikes!!!!!!!!! YIKES  YIKES!!!!!!!! smile smile smile smile smile

It seems I forgot the smilies on this one. I apologize whole-heartedly, Mazzy! Of course I didn't think you were offended! However, I did say that once to one lady as she stepped off stage, and got cold-stared for my trouble.

I LOVE your songs, my friend and I apologize if I made you wonder.

Re: 'Broken' by mazzy catseyes

Okay........ next song please! What do you think this is? We're busy turning out the new Ukulele Beatles here (with Brian's blessings to write that) and we need more material for Brian to work with "Brian's Angels".

Mach' Schau!!!!!

Of course I am only joking with y'all, but you have all of you charmed my heart (and my wife's) and I can't wait to hear you all together.
