Re: friday's blues fix

I hope it's okay that I add one of my favorites: Junior Wells and "Messin' With The Kid". And yep, that's Bill Wyman of The Stones on bass and the great Buddy Guy on blues lead.

Re: friday's blues fix

One more, if I may. "The Blind Boys of Alabama" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Blind_Boys_of_Alabama) are a gospel group and just "over on de side" considered "BLUES", but according to where this "Blue-Eyed" soul man (me) got his education, gospel was where blues' roots began. I really hope this is okay, but I have loved The Blind Boys of Alabama for many many years. Thanks, and please stay with the link for a little bit of talkin' at the beginning:   https://youtu.be/HOiquKuoDac

Thanks for letting me add these two songs, Mr. Badeye and I think we're both coming from the same neighborhood. smile

Holy Crap Badeye - that was awesome.

Love how they fed off each other and especially the end playing from the underside of the guitar.

I sure wish I could play 10% of that.  Very gifted.

Thanks for sharing!

Re: friday's blues fix

Another two terrific selections, Badeye! The "kitchen jam" is a great tradition to keep alive ... good on ya!

Re: friday's blues fix

So that's where The Rooftop Singers got that song! Awesome and I could listen to that gentleman talk, sing and play all night long.

Incidentally, taking a look at his strumming and chording fingers, is that what is referred to as "clawhammer banjo?

Thanks, badeye. As TF says, "Great choice!"

Re: friday's blues fix

I hope it's okay that I add one of my own, badeye?

I have always thought that these guys kinda got "covered up" as far as the blues goes by great bands such as The Allmans, Clapton and so many others I could name.

While Skynyrd had numerous hits, I don't believe they ever got credit for being a "down home" blues band such as The Allmans received. Here's what I mean:

Re: friday's blues fix

Badeye ...

Whatever you decide to do, I thank you for staying at this for almost 7 years, which you started in September 2009. You've introduced us to a TON of great music, and inspired people like me to make contributions also. You have helped make Chordie one of the best discussion forums online, and we all thank you.

I don't know enough about the blues to be able to fill your boots, so I hope someone else steps in.

Thanks again, Badeye!

Ditto what TF said!

What if you only did the last friday of the month ?  Less time, same thrill for all of us ?
