Topic: Leonard Cohen. Dead at 82

Not too many details. A huge loss. One of my biggest influences. Sad news to hear.

One of the most eclectic and prolific poets has left us ("Suzanne", "Hallelujah", "Bird On A Wire" and so many others). Rest In Peace, Mr. Cohen. You will be missed.

Re: Leonard Cohen. Dead at 82

Farewell Leonard now you have crossed the river to join the other great  poets, and song writers in the Tower Of Song. Tom Jones doing his powerful cover of Leonards, Tower Of Song  came into my head on hearing the sad news. I have attached it below.

Re: Leonard Cohen. Dead at 82

About a month ago I read an article in which he said he was ready to go. I didn't realize he meant this soon. Great songwriter.  RIP Leonard.

Awesome poet

How lucky of a Generation are we to have had poets like him, dylan, Angelou..etc.... ?

So many creative inspirations

I like that song Tower of Song, but my fave is still Halleluiah.

Like Guy Clark, Leonard Cohen was among the most highly respected artists in modern songwriting.  May he rest in peace.

And the song which introduced me (and many others of you, I'm sure) to this great poet and singer: I am posting it here with lyrics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZX0CfFdk-jw

Re: Leonard Cohen. Dead at 82

I have just listened to Leonards last album today it is very dark in places an excellent listen. There are a couple of his latest tracks on youtube for those who want to give it a listen.

Re: Leonard Cohen. Dead at 82

Going there now. Thank you, my friend.

I also hope there will soon be a "Boxed Set" of Mr. Cohen's works.

Still listening to "Suzanne".

May I say that of all of his works that were covered, the great Joe Cocker made "Bird On A Wire" a great  work of his own?

Would you listen to it with me? Thanks.

Re: Leonard Cohen. Dead at 82

I love Joe doing that song Bill. Joe Cocker was the one that made me realise that songs can  be covered and made your own. I have heard Joe  in concert  live four times.  I think two of the earlier ones I went to  he was out of it but once the band started he was away and a  brilliant preformer. Then the other two he was sober and completly straight he took it up another level. The first time I heard Joe on the Radio doing With A Little Help From My fFriends instantly made me a fan.  I hope Him and Mr Cohen are enjoying each others company now on the other side.

Re: Leonard Cohen. Dead at 82

Know what, my friend? It's right now 2:39 am Eastern Time in the USA and I just now listened to this ("Bird On A Wire") song again.

I would like to hear YOU singing it, Pete!

You have the voice and that "passion" Tyson7 always talks about, I believe that when you are ready, you can do this one more than justice.

Let's hear a cover with you  on guitar and Maree on piano!

A "CHORDIE COMMAND PERFORMANCE!!!!!!

YOU can do this, my friend!
