I may be goin' to hell in a bucket babe

Re: I QUIT!

way to make a dramatic exit, kinda sad  you felt like you needed to draw that much attention to yourself, but whatever see ya.

If you spend your life judging people, how will you ever have time to love them ♥

Re: I QUIT!

Dude, First of all I don't know you to hate you. Second spend more time practising so you can get in to a band.

Bootlegger.

Re: I QUIT!

Love and hate are very close. BUT every time that someone answers a question, a topic you post, if answered, you start to attack.
WHY SHOULD moderators hate you. You are maybe so enthousiast here, that you write before you think.
HOLD ON, it is never too late to change

Re: I QUIT!

I think he Might be talking about me, even though I do not hate him.
I tihnk because I told him to think before posting so he does not annoy people as much as he was doing now and again.
That does not mean I hate anyone.

Oh well, bye then paranormal.

IF this is so pointless like you say then there is no point in you staying here.
I think you should just calm down and chill.
I dont think you really mean the bad things you said, you are feeling hurt and sad and a bit lonely. You really want to stay and learn from others about music and so you should.

You are forgiven.

Zoke,
Think yourself lucky I am not a moderator for this section, I would hae deleted your post as I will do to any slander like that in anywhere I have the power to do so.
Roger, James, can you delete his post please. Very offensive.

ye get some that are cut out for the job and others just get by from pretending

Re: I QUIT!

AGAIN: NOBODY HATES YOU, the only think we didn't like IN THE BEGINNING, and I don't know what other people think, so IN THE BEGINNING, you gave us, me the impression, that ALL WE WROTE, you didn't like. We are a peaceful, always ready to answer ANY question, community.
If I write something, or even when an administrator writes you, it is only for your good.
There is no need to yell, or to write and answer topics with a kind of anger, or to shoot someone who is trying to answer a question you post. The only thing you need is: think first before you write, and we can turn your phrase into another: WHY DO YOU HATE US?

Re: I QUIT!

You just can't see him be cause he is paranormal and has not been proven yet. On the serious side leave him be.

Bootlegger.

Re: I QUIT!

I really loved that guy, even acting more aggressive or violent than most of us.
My conclusion is: you can not change another person, you can only change yourself.
Education: every single person is different, or is responding different. I come from a family having 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
THE SAME PARENTS (yes 200% for sure), 5 kids, and every single child having the same education is different. There are some similarities, but what is education? Your parents are very important, but the influences from "the outside" are getting more and more important, AND it all depends too, from your character, the way of accepting and INTERPRETING. If I say NO to 5 people, explaining why I said no, I noticed that our personalities just hear what they want to hear, everyone is interpreting stuff like this in a different way: SELECTIF MEMORY.
Influences? Starting from day 1 at Kindergarten, you make friends, 3 years later you start going to school, 6 years, 6 teachers and different friends. You continue studying, going probably to a new school, again for 6 years. You are growing, getting older (12-18 years) having again new teachers, and new friends. At that point, you can talk more about external influences. You have a fiancée, you are so focussed on her/him, loosing old friends, and creating new friends. Every single fact is important, which gives me 1 conclusion: education is not really a parent thing, the only and most important fact is : COMMUNICATION. How many times you hear, no you are not allowed to do this. Why: Because. The because answer leads us nowhere. Teach your children well (C,S & N), by trying to consider them as mini-adults, and who have the what, why period. That's your duty, to guide them through, to help them, to listen to them and to try to answer their needs and questions. I noticed that at least 50% of the children are having a bad period, mostly between 14-16 years old, and they are natural born little liars, and if you treat them well, by trying to be the "standing rock" giving or encouraging them to COMMUNICATE, not giving them all they want. You all know probably the reality soap: "the super nanny", I saw it a few times, and having 3, 4 or more kids, the "bad apple" will affect all the other kids.
28 years ago, I worked on the paediatric department, the terminal, better the children having tumours or leukaemia. Nothing really nothing in my whole life, touched me more than the 2 months I worked there: the children supporting and helping the parents. If they are younger than 5 years, they are totally not aware and interested in death, or heaven and hell. These things were and are used in class and church. My only pain relieve there was the fact that dying was 100% normal for the kids, and writing this makes me emotional again.
So what is your opinion about EDUCATING YOUR OFFSPRING??

Re: I QUIT!

Hi Doc,
My kids are homeschooled. Not for everybody. It takes a lot of patience, understanding and proverbial "hair on your teeth"  to homeschool. I decided that I really want to be involved in my children's education in their formative years. My son was very ill when he was supposed to start regular school so we opted for homeschooling instead. My daughter and son are both gifted so they progress alot faster than their peers.
We have a very strict academic schedule but a very relaxed attitude towards things like music, art, etc. The kids can both read music and both play guitar and piano. My son also plays harmonica and recorder and my daughter plays cello. She also prefers electric to accoustic! They both paint, do pottery, weave. I think that the biggest mistake you can make as a parent is not see your child for who they are but to see in them what you want them to be. I treat my kids like I want to be treated, with respect and tolerence. ( even when my almost teenage daughter's head spins 360 !)

Re: I QUIT!

I also like Will (as he likes to be called). He is undoubted not your usual teenager and I think he is lacking in friends because he is different. Whether this is a result of the way he has been brought up I have no idea, nor do I care, as I feel that the lad does have potential.

I sent him a number of private messages to try to help him which, although he rarely answered, it was obvious from his posting that he had read and taken notice of what I said. I think he was genuinely making an effort to be accepted and I was sorry to see him go and would welcome him back if he wished to return. He may even be back with a different sign-on name as I think he regretted his original one and hated being called it.

Re: I QUIT!

Teenagers thinking they're different and misunderstood is understood to be common amongst all teenagers.

His problem wasn't that he was different.  His problem was that he was the same.

Someday we'll win this thing...

Re: I QUIT!

This time I think you've nailed it, Jerome.

Re: I QUIT!

Feeling misunderstood is probably a healthy stage in adolescence since that is when we start to grow into our individuality.  Sometimes the kids who require the most patience also have the greatest potential.

Like Roger, I wish Will all the best and would welcome his return to this  forum.

Nadine2, I can only begin to imagine what homeschooling is like.  My kids have been lucky to have some very gifted teachers at our local public schools.  They have also had some real stinkers - but by and large our local school system is excellent.

Nonetheless, there are still some families here who opt for homeschooling - mostly for fundamentalist religious reasons.  In those cases, the homeschooling seems more like a form of mind control than a educational experience.

Re: I QUIT!

Dear friends, Nadine, Roger, James, and so many more.
Isn't it strange, maybe for me, that "cyber friendship, really exists.
I am a chordian since 27/01/2007 (already THAT long!!), and for the first time in my life, I really feel that being a lot on this site, friendships are developing. Since the day I am here, I started to feel better week after week. Every single person likes to be loved. I've been on other sites, no sex or dating sitesn on other forums, and this forum is the first one that gives you a personal approach.
It 's not easy to be administrator or moderator (the word tells us enough) and you are SUPER. On other sites, they always write about violent language and worse. Never seen it here. Also, we do react very POLITE, member, moderator..., if someone starts to "play" God. Do you remember that member(well, same word but with a music note to start: RE) who wrote that this site sucked, that there were no songs with the music written just as in a school specialised in teaching music. The answers were sometimes "spicy" but never KILLING answers. I notice RESPECT for every single member, and when you are very active, you start making friends. There is even an option to send mails to another member. I thank you all for this COLLECTIVE effort, and everytime I am visiting this site, it gives me a home-coming feeling. I am pleased with all the kinds of names they give me, rockdoc, the doc.., and maybe you noticed already that I try to help others in a different, understanding approach. Sometimes (more than..) you will see a very long mail or post, but it's stronger than me. This was also the reason to become what I am now, and I hope that when a member asks something, close to my profession, accepts and understands my message.
I CAN'T TELL ENOUGH HOW I ADMIRE THE WORK YOU DO.
I hope and I am sure it will happen that this personal treatment remains, because the site is growing and growing. I am always ready to help if you want.
Love you all

Re: I QUIT!

Hi
I read Will's Posts with amusement from day one. Though I only replied once to many quirky posts.
His first post  in June was
"I live in a lovely village in Cambridgeshire, and there's a whole bunch of places we can practice. I do warn you most of them are haunted. I'm getting better every day, I'm 13 going on 14, and I break up from school mid- July."
and the poor boy was jump on from the start for using a line from Paul Simons song in his signature can't remember which one. quite reasonable I thought.
This was his first reply.
""are you gay cause what the hell is with the paul simon crap"
Not a good introduction to Chordie I felt especially for a young teenager. I think this may have put him on defensive from the start.
He did make bold daft statements (what teenager doesn't )which caused some offence to a few Chorians but when he was confronted  he usually apologised.
Most of his heated discussions were with our more antagonistic brethren who enjoy nothing more than the the back forth banter of lively debate.
I guess in the end his exit was the child in him slamming the door in a huff. Most parents of teenagers have had that one.

Hi docphil
Seen and read most of you posts they are challenging to read and enrich the forum.
I think for most of us who have been around for a while on Chordie look forward to your many and varied questions on diverse musical topics.
Keep them coming.

Regards

Ark

Hi James,
I have read about those people who keep their kids locked up and away from the world and then call it "homeschooling". For us homeschooling wasn't so much a choice amongst many choices...with our son it was the only option. And his sister decided after 3 years of normal schooling to try homeschooling and it just works for us...been going like a boeing since! I think the key is maintain a healthy relationship with the "outside world". My kids are members of many clubs and have very happy social interaction with lots of different kids.
And luckily I am a teacher so, it works for us. Next year we are off to Madagascar so that my daughter can study the lemurs for 3 weeks and then to Egypt so that Matt can join a friend of ours who's an archeologist on a dig!
