Topic: History of Rock

I thought this was interesting, even if it's not 100% accurate:

Re: History of Rock

That looks about right. Interesting how some of these things led to others, but are still around.

If there's anything I like as well as Sissified 70's Pop/Rock, it's 70's Soul.  Bill Withers in particular.  "If it feels this good being used, then Baby use me up."  LOL! Direct and to the point.

Re: History of Rock

Interesting, but I suppose we could all add, take away or change something around to make it more accurate to each individual. Could make an interesting chordie project for a later date.

Re: History of Rock

Yep, looking forward to that. I got interested in music back in the early 50 s so I can't wait to get involved with that topic.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: History of Rock

Okay ... I'll bite with my own subjective assessment. No mention is made of the Classical Music influence in this chart, which is a big part of Prog Rock. Nor does the chart mention Celtic, Asian, Middle Eastern, African, or South American music. We hear those influences in a lot of rock music, and they are quite distinct from Country, Blues, and Jazz.

Re: History of Rock

Also I would have thought skiffle deserved to be mentioned.
