Topic: Simple As

[song]
{t: Simple As (Dancing In The Rain) }

intro
[Am]  [C] [G]

[G] I met a girl in Nashville  , [G]she had the bluest  eyes
Oh they'd  [C]   shine like sparkling  diamonds a[G]gainst the midnight sky
with [Cadd9] ruby lips that tasted just[C] like a fine champagne
oh [Am] loving her was as [C]simple as dancing in the [G] rain

[Am]  [C] [G]

[G] I met a girl in Nashville, [G]she was my saving grace
her [C] loving arms around me,  put a [G] smile upon my face
and I [Cadd9] play our  sweet  memories   [C]over and over again
oh [Am] loving her is as [C]simple as dancing in the [G] rain

Chorus

oh, I  [C] don't know how I ever got so[G]  lucky
to[C] find a girl that fits  me like a poet's [G] rhymes
and when [C] life gets stormy, she wants me by her [G]  side
so  [Am] let the raindrops[C]  kiss me a thousand [G]times
[Am] let the raindrops[C]  kiss me a thousand [G]times

[G] been a while since   Nashville and  [G]  that first kiss goodnight
but her [C] voice and touch  are still as soft as a [G] child's lullaby
and [Cadd9] every time I hold her hand, it's [C]  like going home again
oh [Am] loving her is as [C]simple as dancing in the [G]rain

Chorus
oh, I  [C] don't know how I ever got so[G]  lucky
to[C] find a girl that fits  me like a poet's [G] rhymes
and when [C] life gets stormy, she wants me by her [G]  side
so  [Am] let the raindrops[C]  kiss me a thousand [G]times
[Am] let the raindrops[C]  kiss me a thousand [G]times
[Am] let the raindrops[C]  kiss me a thousand [G]times
[/song]

Re: Simple As

TIG I like that Nashville magic you got going on there with that  lady.

Re: Simple As

Thanks Peatle

The way I wrote it, I purposely left it so that any guy could plug in their own ( two syllable)  city  and their own lady's eye color

for you, possibly.....

[G] I met a girl in Christchurch  , [G]she had the greenest  eyes

I don't even know why I choose Nashville - I've never even been there - but it is on my bucket list for next summer.  smile

Thanks for the feedback.

Re: Simple As

TIGLJK I really like this song and many of the lines show some deep thought.  "to[C] find a girl that fits  me like a poet's [G] rhymes " is a great line.

Music is what feelings sound like.
Music is life, that why our hearts have beats.

CG

Thank you for the kind words.
Once in a while something fits well.  I guess that's why we keep writing - doesn't always work that way smile

Thanks again

Re: Simple As

hey Jimbob, you've hit the jackpot again! and the hits (it should be a hit) keep coming. i played through it and it flows nicely. had trouble with the Bm but i think i worked that one out. you really have a knack with words.

There are two "L's" in Phill

Re: Simple As

Phill

Thanks

I was having troubles with the Bm  too.  It is always my nemesis sad

If you record it let me know - love to hear it.

Thanks for the kind words.

Re: Simple As

Ah! Not fingering the chord but altering the vocal melody line to suit! I'll send it to you when it's finished.

Re: Simple As

Phill

I changed the B chord to a Cadd9 chord - gives it a smoother and even harmonic sound.

It's also a lot easier for me to play   smile

Re: Simple As

Another great song, TIG. I noticed that it can pretty much be sung to the tune of "Take a Load Off, Fanny" by The Band.

ELECTRICS:  EP Les Paul Custom Pro / Gretsch Streamliner G2420T / Cort GB34 Bass

EFFECTS: Boss ME-80 Multi-effects / Ibanez WD7 wah

Re: Simple As

TF Thanks

The song is The Weight by the band one that I have in my songbook  smile
I just tried it - the verses would fit that that chord progression - but not the chorus, at least I couldn't figure it out that way.

Thanks for the comment , I like this song a lot.
