Re: SUGGESTIONS: FEBRUARY 2018 FEATURED SONG OF THE MONTH

I'll think this through. One of the tricks I use to get to sleep is to come up with a category and then try to fill that category in alphabetical order. Without having seen this post, my category last night was "places in songs".  So I had Ashtabula, Baton Rouge, Chicago, Detroit, Egypt (this was a stretch from Walk Like An Egyptian), etc.  Cool category!

Re: SUGGESTIONS: FEBRUARY 2018 FEATURED SONG OF THE MONTH

It's unfair of me to include some of these, because I'd be unable to play them and do any justice, but here are some suggestions.

City of New Orleans. I think Arlo Guthrie wrote it. Everyone has performed it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvMS_ykiLiQ

I've Been Everywhere as performed by Johnny Cash. I think Hank Snow wrote it, or maybe he was just the original performer that JC covered. It names pretty much all the cities.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoIfglXAbh0

Wanted Man by Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan.  Lots of city names in that one, too.  (Warning, contains a potentially offensive image in the video)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRfn5l5PvcY

Dixie Chicken mentions Memphis.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z-GwdaKrn8

Lyle Lovett's LA County.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uGyClRhGg0

John Hiatt's "Memphis In The Meantime"  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwhLdr01c6U
Here's a link of the same song just for Bill! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDdkwwiV-is

Guy Clark's "LA Freeway" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPUMthAXJ-o

The Monkees "Last Train to Clarksville" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcXpKiY2MXE

Re: SUGGESTIONS: FEBRUARY 2018 FEATURED SONG OF THE MONTH

I shouldn't have forgotten this one with a country in the title.  A Gringo In Belize by Jerry Jeff Walker.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B49ZY0lvXrQ

This one kind of double dips. It mentions several cities, but Texas thinks it's still a country.  Slaide Cleaves' Texas Love Song.  If nothing else, the rhymes he works into this song is worth a listen.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0rkzQzEScg

Unfortunately, my mind left unsupervised goes to dark places I'd rather avoid. So I give it make work jobs to do when I'm winding down. It's what Scripture says to do - "attend to your thoughts."
