Guitar chord forum - chordie → Acoustic → Picking and strumming speed
I've had my guitar for 8
months now and I've been focusing on increasing my playing speed using the sequence 5-8-7-8-
over and over again.
I'm really fast now, but it seems that my picking hand can't keep up with my fretting hand...
I use alternate picking, but still, I cant go as fast as my right hand. <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_sad.gif" border=0 alt="Sad">
i'm new to the site too, also haven been playing very long. what is the 5-7-5-8 about?

Oh, that's just a fret sequence to build speed. It's a picking exercise.
U use your 4 fingers to play
5th fret, 8th fret, 7th, fret, 8th fret over and over again. if u keep at it, eventually you will get better and better.
Not saying that time will come anytime soon if you don't practice, though. <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif" border=0 alt="Smile">
