Topic: Finding rare song chords..

I am not the most patient of people and like many .. I work.. So does anyone know of sites that specialise in this?
They may be songs that were not guitar songs to start with .. I'd really like some help..
I am interested in old old blues and jazz..
and an irish reel called 'stretched on your grave' covered by sinead oconnor..

Re: Finding rare song chords..

Well, there are some good sites, where you can find, combine different chords.
The site is
www.chordbook.com
or another good site to learn chords
www.all-guitar-chords.com
Me too, I am not patient, it has to work immediately, but I am afraid you have to be more patient if you play guitar. My system: if I am not in the mood, I don't play. If I am in an "in-between" mood, play. You don't need to practise for hours. When you start, as a beginner, you are better of playing 30 minutes in stead of trying to play 5 hours. I am not a pro, but I know a lot of chords AND I can use and play them. For me one of the best ways to play is:
- look for songs you know (if the song is to difficult, like chords as Bb or F#, you have an option here to diminish or augment these with 1 semitone, or 2, 3..)
- if you are able to play guitar, I learned most by "trying" to play-a-long with that song you put in your CD player.
I hope this helped.

monstamamma,
Couldn't locate the specific song you're looking for but this site may better link you to what you seek;

Re: Finding rare song chords..

Hello monstamamma & welcome to the chordie forum!

Here is a site with a treasure trove of old blues, ragtime, jazz, minstrel, gospel, and show music from the late 1800's through the 1930's.  The Templeton Collection contains thousands of pieces of sheet music (plus recordings, instruments, record players, & memorabilia).

This vast collection of sheet music is steadily being digitized and you can view the full scores.  You can also search the collection by genre, date, composer, publisher, etc.  This is a wonderful resource for tunes that may seem obscure now, but were quite popular in their day.

Give it a look-see, hope you can find the type of stuff you like.  James

Re: Finding rare song chords..

Well monstamamma, as you can see, we all try to add interesting sites. You want to learn chords, well you got some sites, playing jazz? well, I love it too, but I am just like you, not the most patient man on earth. It is strange, and we will absolute be not the only impatient people. If I hear a song, and I love to play it, it can't go fast enough.
Hope you find what you like. I went to the site James wrote, it is amazing what you can find.
