M the keyboard part fills it out nicely all the tracks with the exception of the drums can be downloaded from my mediafire account the link is at the bottom of this post the folder name is "fire of light" you may want to listen to the original mix before adding any percussion or keyboards because the guitars come in at different bars and the guitar bass combination really drive this song the song can be heard on my website just click the link on the left, and I think your keyboard part will add a nice dimension ![]()

M is fine. having heard the keyboard sound on fire of light,do you have any suggestions on how to play it? i'm thinking of lowering volume level on the keyboard slightly so that it becomes a background fill, not so "in your face" as it is now.

sounds about right m theres a vocal that will be on top, the guitar and bass lines are played in unison so a keyboard would fit in nicely as a backing which leaves room for a slide solo at the right time a kind of edgar winterish feel

hi russel, ran into a spot of trouble as i was trying to lay the keyboards on fire of light. for some reason ableton changed the levels of the original recording and turned the bass levels way up. i've been fiddling about with it and couldn't find out why. decided to leave til tomorrow, and all of a sudden i had a brilliant idea which i think is going to solve the problem. i'll try it tomorrow though because it's kind of late in this corner of the world and i'm starting to feel tired. here's what i recorded:
the keyboards have changed (hammond b4 emulator) and again this is just a sound test .

I agree the bass level is much to high, the keyboard is hard to hear and the overall mix needs to have the drums up and the guitars and bass almost at the same level and the keyboard should fill in a little fuller more of a hammon b3 sound (with leslie) kind of deep purpleish not to fret we have time to remix it may be a good idea to send me your keyboard mp3 and let me see what i can come up with

hi all, i'm here again looking for help with a new tune that i've been toying around with. it's a grungy sounding rock and i would really like some vocals on top (a guitar solo would be nice as well). i've called it doomsday, but depending on the lyrics it can certainly change name. So if anybody comes up with some lyrics and wants to sing over it here is a basic version of it:

any other ideas or comments would be much appreciated.

M thats an improvment over what sound you had I should make new mp3's of the tracks on my digital recorder it would make for a better sound but first I will have to delete the old tracks on my mediafire account before uploading the new ones so stay tunned for further developments ( I will get on it later tonight or tommorow afternoon at the latest and post here when the new tracks are uploaded and your not bugging me I enjoy this
let ya know

Any horn players?? I'm working on "Spanish Town" and am looking for someone to possibly record the horn work through the second verse and chorus. The run after the chorus isn't really necessary.. Here's the song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzJPnSHG … annel_page You hear the horn kick in at around 1:00. No hurry, but if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it! -Pix

Hey guys! Aloha! I'm not sure if I'm in the right place/forum for this question, but maybe some one can point me in the right direction. I am currently "gigging" at a Farmer's Market here in Hawaii. The manager's of the market had said that if I have a CD of my own, I could sell it in addition to the tips. I don't have any originals to record, but just do "cover's" of Hawaiian songs. Some of the Hawaiian songs date back to the late 1800's so I'm pretty sure those songs ar "Public Domain", but the question I have, is:
"How do I find out if I have to pay royalties to record the songs, and how much do I need to pay?, and who or what agency is in charge of that kind of thing?"
I'm just an amateur that loves to play ukulele and sing Hawaiian and local contemporary songs, but have had a lot of people ask me if I have a CD out so they can buy it. Most of my songs are of the popular "tourist' type of songs that would remind them of their visit to Hawaii, but they're not "MY" songs, these are songs from an era that was a happier, carefree time of a generation before I was born. Waikiki now looks like Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills with all these designer stores like Luis Vuitton, Coach, Tods, Salvatore Ferragamo, Tiffiny's, Bulgari... etc. I play music made popular by Don Ho, Kui Lee, Buddy Fo and the Invitations, and other entertainers from decades earlier.
Just wondering since I'm not really a "Professional" although I DO get paid a "stipend" for playing at the Farmer's market.

Hmmmm.... I think opening up a new thread in the recording section or asking in the general chat section would be your best bet. This thread is very old and is about Chordie members getting together to create music together. Good luck! I know the OLD ones are safe and royalty free.

Aloha Clayton I remember the artists you mentioned,I met Don ho and Kui Lee when I was playing with the Greenmen in Honolulu at the old Betty Rileys ago go and Kui lee sat in and performend a few songs as did Lou Christiy we also played several other clubs in honolulu I eventually did return with my own band and performed several clubs including the Mango tree in Lahina Maui,to answer your question you dont need to worry about making a CD and paying royalties and selling them where you perform because you are not generating enough sales to attract that much attention unless the CD is released by another recording company and then they will handle the bussiness so go ahead and make the CD I miss Waikiki I lived just a block away and played chess under the covered tables on the beach it was a magical time I also played at the Dunes near Pearl Harbor Hawaii and the people were really nice hopefully I will get back to visit good luck with your CD Aloha ![]()

Here is a search engine for song copyrights.
http://www.ccli.com/Licenseholder/Searc … earch.aspx
And here is another for songs in the public domain.
http://www.pdinfo.com/
If you're in doubt, I'd go with "Don't use it." If it ends up being copyrighted, the copy holder has to defend his right or he loses it. Even if he really thinks "Oh that's just some guy busking in Oahu, no big deal" his lawyer is going to send you a nastygram.

Aloha Clayton...I recently found Israel Kamakawiwo on youtube. Oh wow, I love his voice. Do you do any of his? I play 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' over and over from my music library... Such a peaceful quiet, but authentic rendition. It led me to other songs from your beautiful Hawaii.
