The following poem is somewhat self explanatory

POPSTAR        BUVVY        14-04-09

SMILING  MOGUL
MAKE  ME  A  STAR
WITH  YOUR  GLEAMING  SMILE
I  KNOW  I  WILL  GO  FAR
YOU  HAVE  THE  MONEY
YOU  HAVE  THE  POWER
TO  PUT  ME  ON  AN  IVORY  TOWER
MY  TALENT  IS  NIL
MY  FIGURE  IS GOOD
MY  PEARLY  SMILE
IS  FULL  OF  BEGUILE
IN  THE  LOOKS  DEPARTMENT
I  HAVE  IT  ALL
I  WANT  MY  BANK  BALANCE
NO  LONGER  TO  BE  SMALL
I  CANNOT  SING
I  CANNOT  DANCE
BUT  WITH  YOUR  CASH
I’LL  LEARN  IN  A  FLASH
SO  SMILING  MOGUL
WITH  THE  BIG  CAR
TOGETHER  WE  WILL  GO  FAR
BUY  ME  NEW  CLOTHES
DANCE  STEPS  TOO
OH  HOW  I  LOVE
ALL  THAT  WAS  TABOO

Hi Buvvy,

X factor has a lot to answer for. But on the other hand it has given us poets plenty of material to work with.
Still I'd like to see a return to the normal kind of talent contest where contestants are not shamed or embarrassed, deluded as they may be.

Producers have been the subject of many discussions on Chordie in the past, how they use and then throw away kids who's dreams of becoming pop stars are the main focus of their lives...

As Nik Kershaw once said "Disposable Mankind"

It's the poor that have the numbers, but it's the rich that have the power...and with money you can buy all the numbers you want...sick or what?
