Re: I've finally found the guts to Youtube some songs.

Wow!  I really don't know what to say other than thanks for your kind words!  I've checked out a few of your videos in recent months and I just hope I'll get those sort of standards..eventually.

I picked the guitar up on the 22 January 2009 and just knew from the first time I did that it was gonna work.  I tried to learn 20 years ago but gave up after a few months as I could litterally only play 3 or 4 chords.

I have to say this place is an absolute wealth of support, knowledge and chords and I'd recomemnd it to anyone.  When I have one of those bad practice days, I log on here and I leave feeling 100% better.

Thank you all!

Re: I've finally found the guts to Youtube some songs.

6 months, 1 week into learning and I've posted 3 more videos, please have a look and comment, I hope you enjoy.

I'm getting ready to go on holidays in the early hours so I hastily recorded a few more tunes incase I come back home and can't play a thing!  I'm also worried about losing all those hard earned calloses on my fingers!

What will I do for a week without my guitars??

Re: I've finally found the guts to Youtube some songs.

Gob smacked as usual. 6 months!

I'm just back from a weeks holiday (Llandudno) and missed my guitar A LOT. The car was packed so tightly there wasn't even any room for my travel guitar. sad

Re: I've finally found the guts to Youtube some songs.

Hey Crevs!

Listened to Oasis and Manics - Fantastic stuff, you're really setting a benchmark for beginners!!! (in a good way!) cool

You have both natural rhythm and vox (I specialise in vox!!!)

Try doing Cast No Shadow with the capo up one or two frets - if you can sing across your range at the same volume without forcing and feel no strain on/in your throat you know you're onto a good thing! This is only gilding the lily tho' - you are seriously good!!!

Re: I've finally found the guts to Youtube some songs.

Hello again, I'm after a bit of advice.

I've posted a few more videos on my youtube site using my Sony Ericson phone.  It's ok for what it is but I'm aware the sound isn't that good, I think it's filtering out the bass sounds of the guitar??

Whats the best/cheapest way to record acoustic?

Re: I've finally found the guts to Youtube some songs.

May be better asking this in the recording section. I'd like to know the answer too. I usually just use my digital camera but there's got to be a better option, sound-wise.

Re: I've finally found the guts to Youtube some songs.

Crevs... sounds like you're doing AWESOME!  I've been playing for a short 2 months (my husband keeps saying it's been three, but I know when I started based on when I registered here on Chrodie!  LOL)... it's amazing what can be done in a short amount of time when you really love something and put your heart into it.  You sound excellent... and youtubing can be so scary!  Good job!

Re: I've finally found the guts to Youtube some songs.

Crevs,

I am proud of you young man. You are doing great !  If you purchase a video camera, look for one with a mic input. You can get much better audio.
I am still experimenting with recording but the best audio I have done is by playing into my acoustic amp with guitar and vocals. Then I have a condensor mic placed about a foot away from the amp. I run the condensor mic into a peavey mixer and from the mixer I go out the back from the 2 rca plugs into my computer. If you video at the same time you will have to add the audio track to your video. I use Roxio Easy Media Creator 10. This equipment can be expensive though.

If you have an amp, you can run your line out the back of your amp into  a video camera mic in and get pretty good audio also.
You can also plug a mic into your video camera and mic your amp, it takes a lot of trys to get this one right.

Re: I've finally found the guts to Youtube some songs.

Hey Crevs
I bought a Canon FS100 which records to a 4 Gig flash card up to about 3 hrs worth on one battery charge.  I paid $150 on Ebay and was like new.  I'm pretty pleased.  Here's a audio of a friends band that came out pretty good when you consider in close quarters we had to wear earplugs and all I used was the internal mic.  There is an external mic input but haven't found the need.

Impressive Steve, the band are very good too!

I'll have to keep my eyes open on ebay for a bargin, thats plenty good enough for me.

Cheers
