Sounds like Claude may either be in cahoots with some other people trying to run a scam or he really didn't have the funding to do it properly. It doesn't really matter. If any more posts are made by him trying to sell his product then simply submit a reference back to this post. Next if there is anyone wanting to get free guitar lessons, rather than paying a fortune, just try this. Go onto Chordie and say, "help", could anyone please help me. Then post what you need help with. That's basically what I did and it didn't cost me a cent. Really it cost me absolutely nothing to either ask for or get help. The great thing about this site is that it doesn't have to be specifically guitar. I've seen all kinds of questions, going from guitar to banjo to advice etc.etc.etc. Don't ever pay someone for something until you've asked everyone for the same thing. (If that makes any since).

Almost forgot, if anyone is trying to sell something and you don't have the funds to make it look professional then put a disclaimer in your advertisment stating this. There are to many scams out there and it is easy for people to get a bad taste in their mouths from them. If I get burned then you can bet you @$$ that I'll tell everyone.

No idea what a Claude Johnson is. Pick up any of Paul Gilbert's DVDs. He's actually got a pedigree and has a very easy to understand teaching style. I've been playing for 30 years and I learn something new every time. If you have On-Demand, you'll even find free lessons under the music section.

His e-book was pretty well put together, but I decided to do some research about Claude. Good thing too. There are countless threads just like this one on other websites. Glad I decided to look before I leaped.

I received an e-mail from Claude Johnson about 6 months ago asking if I wanted to buy for about 5 bucks and shipping “The Ultimate Guitar Secrets Collection Volume 1†It was a one time teaser. No obligations, no memberships, ect. I received it quickly. Well yesterday I noticed they were trying to collect $19.95 on my account. I have received no goods or services from them aside from the e-mails they send from time to time. Since I received no affirmation of any memberships when I ordered and the fact that this attempt to access my account is about 6 months after the time I ordered from them shows me this is a “toe in the water attempt†to see if the charge will fly. I only assume if this one goes unchallenged, they would hit my account up on a regular basis. If you do business with these people, don’t give them access to your online account.

I also got scammed by Claude (Hope you're happy Clod, you cost me 2 cases of beer) I signed up for what seemed like an innocent guitar newsletter, but I come to find out he's scamming me at 20 buck per month from my bank account. What a prick. I am so pissed off right now, all because I'm trying to better my chops. Be ware, AI am going to every music forum I can to spread the word.

I ordered a copy of the guitar control secrets DVD from him which was shipped to my billing address in another country ( where I no longer live). I've sent numerous emails with no satisfactory response. In fact all I seem to receive is yet another irritating email in my inbox each morning. I filed a complaint with the the Pennsylvania Bureau of Consumer Protection this morning at http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/complaints.aspx?id=451 and encourage anyone else who's had unsatisfactory dealings with him to do the same.

Just like riddlesgun, I accepted his discounted offer and low and behold, a couple months later a $19.95 charge showed up on my account. I reviewed all the previous correspondence and I haven't been able to even find fine print regarding an ongoing subscription. Nadda....................
I did get an immediate response though when I contacted them and they reversed everything immediately. Now I am not saying any of this in an effort to support their website or their efforts at all. I would suggest strongly that folks stay far away from that business all together. I believe what they did was probably reportable and bordered potentially on real fraud. For twenty bucks it wasn't worth chasing it any further given that they took care of it immediately.
Just stay away from them - period.

Hello folks,
Was looking at this Claude fellow's courses and saw this thread. I am a Philadelphia PA guitarist for over 33 years. I never heard of him nor have any of my well connected and respected peers. He is a scam, to be honest, he is mediocre at best, poor vibrato and terrible tone to boot. Stick with all the free internet learning tools and services.
All the best,
E

So, I recently gave this course a shot. I found that Mr. Johnson does have a fairly solid, but basic knowledge of the guitar. I sincerely believe that there is potentially something to be learned from his courses. However, MANY aspects of the product prevent the potential of this course to shine through. The basic quality of the audio and video on the DVDs is absolute garbage. Mr. Johnson's attire, posture, and teaching props are 'basement' quality at the very best. Just a little more effort to improve the impression that one gets would go a long way. While Mr. Johnson may have a basic knowledge of the guitar, he has extremely poorly developed skills, and struggles embarrassingly to demonstrate his points. There is no evidence from the courses that he actually has ever had any formal guitar education, or that he has put any education that he has received into good old fashioned practice. Putting it bluntly, he sucks at playing a guitar! In addition to all of this, (which I was willing to overlook if I could have learned something new -- remember, I recognize potential here!) some of the DVDs were blank, and many others had no sound track, only video! How can you learn anything that way? I did have a very good response to my question about where the 'extras' were, and was able to find them all on the web site. There is some great information in these, especially about how to learn guitar the right way and how to avoid learning the wrong way. So, I have sadly requested a full refund, based upon his one-year unconditional money back refund policy. We'll see how that goes. I'm giving them 2 business days to post the refund to my credit card, or to contact me to get the process rolling. If I don't hear or see a response from them by then, I'm going to contact my credit card company to reverse the charge from that end, file a formal mail fraud complaint to get an investigation going, and may even contact an attorney. I suggest that anyone else who has any difficulty with this dude do exactly the same thing -- just Google "mail fraud complaint" on the web and off you go. The more complaints that are registered, the better the possibility that the authorities will go after this guy. HOWEVER, IF HE HONORS HIS REFUND POLICY IN A TIMELY MANNER, NO HARM, NO FOUL!!!!!! (Can ya feel me Claude? I mean absolute business here, and I'm not some kid who doesn't know what I'm doing. If you are sincere about your business, do the right thing, improve your product, continue to learn the art, and good luck to ya!

Claude Johnson is the lollipop king and we are all suckers!!! Listen to this: I ordered the Chicken Pickin' course with Sol Philcox. I recieved the DVD's and all 6 of them were physically damaged. It looked like each one had been used as a drink coaster. You could see the damage with the naked eye. Also there was no tablature as promised. I sent it back for my refund with a clear note in english that I wanted my money back. They sent me another set of DVD's anyway, billed me for them A SECOND TIME!!! I NEVER EVEN GOT A REFUND THE FIRST TIME!!! In addtion they billed me $19.95 for the "guitargodclub" membership. I should have known by the name!!! So over $300 dollars later... No returned calls, one returned e-mail after two weeks that made absolutely no sense whatsoever. These people are crooks and idiots!!! I googled Claude Johnson and found his LLC in Wayne, PA. It says he has estimatd annual sales of 200K and two employees. Why is Sol Philcox associating with this scumbag?!!! Thanks to everyone who posted. I too am going to file a fraud claim and call Visa tomorrow! I am also going to file a police report in Wayne, Pennsylvania for theft and fraud and I recommend that everyone else do also. This stuff is ridiculous and gives good people like Sol Philcox a bad name. If you are looking for a great course from an honest guy google Adam St. James and logical lead guitar. I hope this guy gets strung up by his nuts!!! Absolutely Claude is a Fraude!!! and my lawyer is coming for you, pal!!! Thanks to chordie for providing this forum!!!

Just an update on the Chicken Pickin' saga. I HAVE now received a refund for the original DVD's which were damaged. I may have jumped the gun a little bit, but getting no answers has been frustrating. I'm still waiting on the tab, or to hear back from anyone about the tab. I will say now that I've watched a lot of the videos and lessons, I do like the course (and of course Sol is wicked on the guitar) I apologize to Claude for the fraude claim, I'm now believing that it is simply incompetence or disorganization, however I was promised tab and months later still no tab and no word. If it were anyone else in the world I might be able to get by without it, but this kid is so freaking fast that it is mandatory, for me at least. So for sure, buyer beware... and be prepared to be spammed to death with ridiculous e-mails. The jury is still out on the fraude- waiting on my tab. Disorganized mess for sure- and I can't help but think that Claude "spiritual guitar man" Johnson is a douche. Won't be ordering any more courses from this guy.

I was searching for Claude Johnson and I found this forum. Looks like Claude listened to you guys...
He admits his previous videos were crappy productions and he reshot them with some pros.
http://www.claudejohnson.com/blog/?p=400
He just released a couple of new previews here:
http://www.claudejohnson.com/blog/
Anyways -- despite all the bad press he got here. I respect the fact that he admits his mistakes and is doing his best to redeem himself. That shows his true colors IMO.
Also I've been pretty impressed with the guitarists he has assembled over the last few months. I bought the Jimmy Dillon course (http://www.soulofacousticguitar.com/blog) and I am VERY impressed. Jimmy is a great teacher. I can't say one bad thing about those DVDs. Sol Philcox is very good too.
I'm not trying to defend Claude because by the sounds of it, he was not always on the ball in the past. However, I'm going to give him a chance because he's admitting that he used to suck. I think his new production looks pretty darn good.

Hey folks...
It's Claude here. And I think I should at least post something of a reply for all the comments
that have been posted here. This is certainly not to advertise myself or my sites, but just to hopefully address some of the negativity.
Well it's true, my first videos were of low quality, however I felt and still feel that
the information and concepts on them were pretty solid.
However, the film and audio quality were very poor so I have completely redone them.
First about all the bad customer service experiences of the past.
Let me say that there's no excuses for any bad customer support.
And I take full responsibility for anything that happened or didn't happen in the past.
Believe it or not, there's over a million people on my email list, and I've had some growing pains
with keeping up with all the hundreds of emails we get every day...
However, I now have a dedicated support site to make sure every customer gets taken care of http://www.guitarcontrolhelp.com
And for some people I'm not their cup of tea.
They don't like me, they don't like my style or they don't like how I teach. And that's fine.
That's why I also have hired many talented guitar instructors...
If you want to learn high level lead guitar beyond what I can show you,
I have some outstanding DVDs from Derryl Gabel and 2-time Guitar Idol finalist Silvio Gazquez.
We also offer the finest blues instructional materials on the planet from acoustic blues legend Stefan Grossman.
If you want to supercharge your playing with insane chicken pickin chops, we have Nashville prodigy Sol Philcox ,
and more recently, San Francisco session pro Jimmy Dillon has some amazing acoustic guitar videos for you.
At the end of the day, I just want to help as many guitarists as possible improve their abilities.
Is there any better secrets than "practice, practice, practice"? Not really...
However, you will make more progress FASTER...
If you "practice, practice, practice" with THE RIGHT INFORMATION.
If anyone here has any problems or challenges with my company,
feel free to post them here or even better post it at: http://www.guitarcontrolhelp.com
And I'll make sure that you get taken care of.
Dedicated to your improved guitar playing,
Claude Johnson
P.S. You can check out my blog for the new videos... http://www.claudejohnson.com/blog

Thanks Claude for finally getting back to me and sending me the tabs for the Chicken Pickin' course. The sad part is that all of them are dead links. Seriously Claude?
Here, try one:

Thanks for the effort, but still waiting...

Thanks for the note Leo, but I can't help noticing you just registered today and have made one post for the sole purpose of pumping up Claude and throwing in a bunch of his links. I also can't help wondering if you are Leo Lablanc the dobro player who died in 1995.
If you are a different Leo Leblanc or you have come back from the grave, you might tell Claude that if he just got his act together he wouldn't have to go crazy with the spam, the marketing and the phony posts. I'm starting to see a pattern...

Hallelujah!!! Claude got back to me and I now have the Chicken Pickin' tab!!! Glad to have that behind me... Consider me thrilled with Sol Philcox and the course, including the production/editing, etc. Consider me apalled by the customer service and organization. In fairness if there is anyone else on here who has had their issues satisfactorily resolved, they should come back and let people know. I do now believe that Claude is making an effort. It's resolved, Claude even apologized and now I'm going to shut up and play my guitar. On that note if you want to check out a great course that has fantastic customer service check out www.logicalleadguitar.com and Adam St. James.

Guess what? This idiot Claude and his guitar control is now charging my credit for his idiotic Guitar God Club. I am so freaking tired of this guy, if I ran into him on the street.... The saga continues.....

No claude you are still promoting yourself. Let me tell you about this negativity you wish to adress, it's smeared all over the internet. A scam is a scam and once it's been outed it's over you will never clear you or your products name. This is just another scam if you really were admiting that your first crap was crap you wouldn't say "however I felt and still feel that the information and concepts were pretty solid." They were not solid you said all these great things about your videos and promised things were not even close to true. I'm getting so angry I can't even get the right words out. At least you say you hired some talent cuz your videos need some talent in them, and at the end of the day you don't want to help anybody but yourself and to line your pockets with the money of hard working people who really want to learn this great instrument. Gives us a break man stop ripping people off just go work at kinko's or subway and stop taking away hard earned money

Claude Johnson is a joke. He sends me bulk e-mails that I ignore. If you want to really get a good foundation for playing the blues, Flatpicking guitar magazine put out a great instructional course called **********************. *********is a grammy award winning artist who has performed with many Nashville greats( like Marty Stuart) for over 25 years. He actually has major credentials unlike Claude. I have watch him play live and he could smoke claude johnson with his eyes closed. His book is 30 dollars and comes with a dvd and cd. It is a great buy and actually will teach anyone how to get a good foundation for playing the blues. Don't waste your time or money on Claudes material.

I have ordered and paid for two products, both are online stuff. I called twice and was told they would send me the information to login immediately. I did not receive any information. I triedl their concerns email system and have received no reply. This is after 4 attempts, each one coming at least 3 working days after the previous attempt. I guess I am going to have to talk to my bank about this outfit.
