Hi,
I am sure it has been asked many times before but when you see for instance C/G
on a chord sequence how are you meant to play it? ( yes that's how it is written above the song complete with the forward slash). I tend to play finger style so I am making up the melody within the chord sequence. If that makes sense!
Many thanks
Kairos.

yes it has been asked a few times the C/G is a slash chord the note to the left of the slash C is the chord the note to the right of the slash G is the lowest note played within the chord so its a C chord with a G root this can be played as 33210 or GCECE (1st posistion open) ![]()

Thanks Russell,
I noticed you have left the upper G string out ? and as you have followed on by naming the strings it is not a typo! Can you tell me why or am I just missing something.
If it is a typo I apologise for being pedantic.
Regards
Kairos.

Pedantic? Wow that there's a big word. You must be real smart, so I want to give you a warm welcome to chordie. Lord knows we can use some smarts around here. ![]()
I'm no theory genius, but I believe Russ made a typo. Here's how I play the C/G.
And for a brief lesson on slash chords, here's an often recommended resource. justinguitar.
