Topic: new strings

hey everyone

im playing an acoustic takamine, i just changed the strings for the first time, i have it at year.on takamines website they say they use d'addario exp16 light gauge at factory level.ive changed my strings to exp16 light and the sound is totally different.
before the sound was warm and deep but now it seems to be thin and mono rather than stereo if you know what i mean.also there seems to be a bit of a buzz on the 5th and 6th if i dont really press down on the string  which wasnt there before.maybe i havent put the strings on properly i think i have everything looks ok anyway.just looking for any advise r any one to recommend strings for my tak thanks

Re: new strings

New strings will sound really different. They should sound brighter, with more of a ring to them. Maybe this could be called "more tinny".

Most shops will put on 12 guage strings - medium. Most shops I've been to anyway. The buzz may go in time but if not try 12s or 11s.

Is anything really made up of zeros and ones??

Re: new strings

thanks alot for the reply i will give it a few days to see if anything changes cheers mate

Re: new strings

you should take your guitar to a specialist guitar shop regularly over the years to get set up. I Take myn every year and its amazing how much difference it sounds and plays (like new). The woods etc are always moving possition due to the humidity of the air so a regular set up will keep your guitar playing nicely and above all correctly

There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and alcohol!

Re: new strings

Just got my Tak back from the shop. Had it set-up, frets re-crowned, a little tweaking here and there and new strings. Play's just wonderful and the sound could not be better. Money well spent.
