Topic: Reggae feel

Hi Gang!!!!!!!!

Having trouble getting my head around a reggae pattern with no barre chords. Can't quite make it sound right. Any advice would be great.

try barring the 5th fret and using your 4th and baby finger to make an em shape on the second fret up from the bar and use a DUDUDUDUDU........ strumming pattern but muting all the strings on the down stroke (lifting the chord from the fret board slightyl) and only hit the first 4 strings on the up stroke (with the chord back on the fret board) this will give you a SKA kind of sound. quite funky

The main components of reggae strumming are using up strokes, strum on the & or "offbeat", muted shuffles or strums, and shortening of sounded chords... -Pix
