"Rhett Akins" (born October 13, 1969 in Valdosta, Georgia) is a country singer and songwriter. He reached the peak of his popularity during the mid-1990s. His biggest hits were "That Ain't My Truck" (No. 3, 1995) and "Don't Get Me Started" (his lone No. 1 song from 1996). He released the CD "Friday Night In Dixie".
Rhett Akins had a band by the time he was eleven. In 1992, he moved to Nashville to follow his dream of becoming a country music star. He received a record deal from Decca Records after they heard a few of his demos. He debuted his first album ''A Thousand Memories'' in 1994. Two of the songs on the album made it into the top 40 of the charts, but it wasn't until a year later that he made it big. In 1995, he released the song "That Ain't My Truck," which made it into the top five. He released the album ''Somebody New'' in 1996, but not to much success. Rhett came back in 1998 with his third album titled ''What Livin's All About'', but it too did not reach the success of his first album.
