Amplified is an upcoming band with members based in Hong Kong. The members are all currently 15 years old, making them one of the first young teenage rock bands. The band currently attends St. Paul's School in Concord, NH. They are scheduled for a summer 2006 debut, initially in Japan. They were discovered through a Sony Music audition, in which unsigned bands could send their demo tapes to Sony Music Japan's Sound Development section where they were evaluated. Out of around 1,000 candidates, Amplified was the only band chosen to continue with the audition and eventually sign a deal with DefSTAR Records, a Sony Music subsidiary.
A single, "Mr. Raindrop", was released on July 19th. The music video was directed by Steven Murashige (The Ataris, Rage Against the Machine); and was filmed in Japan in March. The song is used for the ending credits in the anime Gintama. Their album is to be released on August 2nd. Their second single is "Go Figure."
