"Apollo Sunshine" is an alternative rock band of the 2000s currently based out of Leverett, Massachusetts. Their sound has been described as a crossbreed of indie pop, psychedelic, and alt-country styles. Members Sam Cohen, Jesse Gallagher, and Jeremy Black originally met at Berklee College of Music, but left due to dissatisfaction with their industry-oriented program. Since then, they have recorded two full length albums and attained a national cult following. Sean Alyward was added to the lineup in 2004 in order to fill out the band's live sound. He also played on their second, self-titled album. In 2006, Sean left due to the band's desire to continue as a trio, though he still remains a close friend.
The band released their first album ''Katonah'' in 2003 on spinART records. The album was recorded in Katonah, New York in a barn which the band converted into a studio, and produced by Andy Edelstein, a professor at Berklee College of Music. The first single, "I Was on the Moon," was released in 2004, with a video following in 2005.
