Ali Azmat

"Ali Azmat" born in 1970 in Abbottabad, Pakistan is the lead vocalist of the band Junoon. Currently, he's pursuing a solo career, and has released an album, ''Social Circus''. Recently The Alanis Morissette Music Company has also signed up Ali Azmat.

After Junoon's albums ''ISHQ'' (2001), and ''Deewar'' (2003), Brian O’Connell left the band, and eventually, both Salman Ahmad and Ali decided they wanted to go their separate ways. But before all this, there was their album ''Azadi'', their fourth studio album, which contained the hit "Sayonee". Following their tremendous success with ''Azadi'', in 1999 Junoon released their fifth studio album ''Parvaaz'', which was based mostly on the poetry of Baba Bulleh Shah. ''Parvaaz'' was recorded and mixed at Abbey Road Studios in London, and was described by critics as Junoon’s finest work.

The band had started in 1990, when Junoon (meaning "obsession" in Urdu) was formed with former Vital Signs guitarist, Salman Ahmad on vocals and Nusrat Hussain on keyboards.
