"Bernard Fanning" (born 15 August 1969) is an Australian musician best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Powderfinger.
Powderfinger has released five albums and a double CD live album. After the band released their best of album, ''Fingerprints: Best Of 1994 - 2000'' in 2004, they decided to take a break. Fanning released a successful solo album in October 2005, called ''Tea and Sympathy'' which debuted at #1 on the Australian ARIA Albums chart. The lead single from this album is "Wish You Well" which is followed by the new single "Songbird". However, Powderfinger have said they will return with a new album in February 2007.
On January 26th, 2006 "Wish You Well" was voted in at #1 on Australian youth radio station Triple J's 2005 Hottest 100 poll.
Fanning appeared in the 2003 film ''Ned Kelly'' as a musical performer in the bar.
He went to St. Joseph's College, Gregory Terrace, Brisbane. After completing high school he decided to join a band.
He also produced the solo album of Andrew Morris, "Little By Little", in 2004.
He enjoys rugby and cricket in his spare time.
