Dark New Day is an American alternative metal band formed in late 2004 by five people: Brett Hestla of Virgos Merlot, Troy McLawhorn? of Doubledrive, Clint Lowery of Sevendust, Corey Lowery of Stereomud, and Will Hunt of Skrape. The band is considered a sort of supergroup considering the fact that all five members have spent time in nu-metal and hard rock groups of varying success, although the band members disagree with this classification, largely because with the exception of Sevendust, none of their prior projects fared very well commercially.
On June 14th of 2005, the band released their first album, Twelve Year Silence through Warner Bros. Records. The first single from the effort, "Brother", was a surprise hit on active and alternative stations, although the follow-up, "Pieces", did not fare nearly as well.
