Gordie Sampson

Gordie Sampson is a singer-songwriter from Sydney, Nova Scotia. His sound can be described as bluesy/folky/poppy. He got his start as a member of a local band named Realworld back in the early 1990s with brothers Jamie Foulds and Matthew Foulds.

Sampson is a very accomplished songwriter (Ashley MacIsaac?'s "Sleepy Maggie," Crush's "King For A Day") and producer (Damhnait Doyle's Davnet, Natalie MacMaster?'s In My Hands). He has spent a considerable amount of time in Nashville, pitching his songs to both pop and country acts.

Sampson has released two CDs as a solo artist with his debut album, Stones, being nominated for a Juno Award. He also received an East Coast Music Award for its single "Sorry". His second CD, Sunburn, came after a brief hiatus and was written in partnership with Troy Verges and Blair Daly. Sampson plays the majority of the main instrument including guitars, bass and piano and it was recorded in Toronto and his own studio in Cape Breton.
