"Dave Mason" (born May 10, 1946, some sources suggest the year 1944) is a musician from Worcester, England who found fame with rock band Traffic. Mason's best known song is ''Feelin' Alright'', which became a hit for Joe Cocker. Another hit that Mason wrote was ''We Just Disagree''. A third hit was ''Let It Go''. Mason's tenure with Traffic was disjointed. He quit after the recording of ''Mr. Fantasy'' (1967), their debut, only to rejoin halfway through the sessions for Traffic (1968), after which the band broke up. Last Exit (1969), a compilation of leftovers from the first album, features little material by Mason, apart from his song "Just For You." Traffic would later reform without Mason, though he did briefly tour with the band in 1971, as captured on ''Welcome to the Canteen.''
Mason was a close friend of Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix first heard "All Along The Watchtower" by Bob Dylan at a party he was invited to by Mason, and decided to record his own version.
