Quireboys

A British rock band who were briefly successful in the early 1990's, and who like Dogs D'Amour were associated with a "sleazy" form of hair metal, although both bands' music was a very British-flavoured Blues Rock.

The band were formed in 1986 consisting of Spike (Jonathon Gray) on vocals/frontman, Guy Bailey (guitar), Chris Johnstone (keyboards), Ginger (guitar), Nigel Mogg (bass) and drummer Coze. They came to the attention of Phil Mogg who became their manager. They rapidly established themselves as a noteworthy live act in small clubs and quickly won support slots with several major hair metal/glam rock bands, including Guns N' Roses and Yngwie Malmsteen, as well as a slot in the Reading Festival in 1987 and again the following year.

Their resulting good reputation led them to be signed up by EMI, and Phil Mogg ceased managing them. Prior to recording their first album, Coze was sacked and the drum parts undertaken by session man Ian Wallace. The permanent replacement was subsequently Rudy Richman. The resultant album A BIT OF WHAT YOU FANCY was a huge success, most notably in Britain and Japan, peaking at no.2 in both countries, and the period 1990...
