Randy Bachman

"Randolph Charles Bachman," OM, D.Mus (born September 27, 1943) was lead guitarist and songwriter of the 1970s rock band, The Guess Who, and later formed the famous hard rock band Bachman-Turner Overdrive with his brothers Robbie Bachman, drums, Tim Bachman, rhythm guitar and friend Fred Turner on bass and lead vocals. He became a legendary figure in the rock and roll world through his talents as a guitarist, songwriter, and performer. Bachman was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. His son, Tal Bachman, is also a musician.

Bachman also formed the band Brave Belt with Chad Allan and has recorded numerous solo albums. In 1992 he recorded the song "Prairie Town" with fellow Winnipeger Neil Young.

In 2000, he made a guest appearance on The Simpsons as himself with his former Bachman-Turner Overdrive band-mate, C.F. Turner. Simpsons creator Matt Groening (whose father is originally from Winnipeg), is a well known BTO fan. Homer Simpson yells at Bachman to "get to the working overtime part" while playing "Taking Care of Business".
