Renaud (Rinaldo) a fictional Christian knight (the son of Bertoldo) who was the reputed founder of the house of Este. Renaud is one of the main characters in Torquato Tasso's epic poem Jerusalem Delivered (1580); he is ensnared by the witch Armida.
