The Stands were a band from Liverpool, England.
The Stands were formed by Howie Payne after his previous band, The Big Kids, parted ways. (Sean Payne and Russ Pritchard of The Big Kids would go on to form The Zutons with Dave McCabe? and Boyan Choudhury.) The Stands tended to play likeable music with a happy sumertime feel. Early fans included the Gallagher brothers of Oasis, and Noel has performed on stage with the band, most famously at the Zanzibar Club in Liverpool.
After various line-up changes, the core quartet of Howie Payne (vocals, guitar), Luke Thomson (guitar), Dean Ravea (bass), and Ste Pilgrim (drums) was complete in 2002, and the band were picked up by the Echo Label after gaining acclaim from Noel Gallagher.
The band's first album was called "All years Leaving."
After releasing the album and several accompanying singles, the band began rehearsing new songs for a follow-up album. Before heading to California to record, Graeme Robinson replaced Ste Pilgrim on drums.
