"The Sultans Of Ping (FC)" are a Rock band from Cork, Ireland.
Sultans Of Ping
Founded in 1989, and split up by 1997, ''the Sultan's'' reunited late in 2005 for a series of gigs through out Ireland and the UK. The band was supported by Les Carter's (Fruitbat formerly of Carter USM) band iDou. They have also played some more gigs in Southampton, Manchester and London in March 2006. They are due to play festivals in Berlin and Cork in Summer 2006.
The original band line up was Morty McCarthy (Drums), John McAuliffe(Bass), Pat O'Connell (Guitar), Niall O'Flaherty (Vocals and Harmonica). John McAuliffe left the group in 1990 to be replaced by Alan McFeely. Later Sammy Steigers (Guitar) joined. In the more recent reformation however, Ian Olney joined the group on bass, having formerly played with the Power of Dreams and Morty McCarthy's post-Sultans band, ''Pharmacy''.
Most noted for their art pop song "Where's Me Jumper?", the Sultans saw some cult status fame in Ireland, the UK, Japan, and Sweden, but they never quite caught on in other countries including the USA.
