Westside Connection is a West Coast rap group consisting of Ice Cube, WC, and Mack 10. Their first album, Bow Down, reached the #2 position on the Billboard 200 in 1996. The group was formed during the East Coast-West Coast hip hop rivalry, coming out after the death of Tupac Shakur. Death Row Records was faing after the loss of 2Pac, Snoop Dogg leaving the label and Dr. Dre's leaving and starting his own record label, Aftermath Records.
After a long hiatus the group released their second album Terrorist Threats in 2003 hallmarked by the lead single "Gangsta Nation" with Nate Dogg. Reletivly speaking, the rap group came up and diminished farly quickly. Although the group's style stayed within the borders of gangsta rap, it showcased it at its peak.
In 2005 Mack 10 left the group due to a fued between him and Ice Cube. The arguement was over Ice Cube's reluctance to go on tour, opting instead in favor of his movie career. While Ice Cube has stated that another Westside Connection could be released, he has said Mack 10 will not be a part of the group.
WC helped Ice Cube with his seventh album Laugh Now, Cry Later in June 2006,...
