Hello City  Barenaked Ladies

Subject: Hello City - Barenaked Ladies

Hello City by the Barenaked Ladies
>From the album: Gordon (1992 Sire/Warner Bros.)
1st song on the album but not a lot of American airplay (if any)
Jazzy kind of tune.
I had, and am still having troubles figuring out the chords for the part
beginning "Maybe I caught you at a bad time . . ."
I think you could flip back and forth between D and A and the final chord ("on
Barrington Street") would be a G. Open to suggestions.

HELLO CITY - Barenaked Ladies
[C7]Hello city . . .
[G]Another nig[D]ht at the Palace,
[C]'cause there is [C7]nothing else to [G]do. [D](Whoa, who[C]a)[Cadd9]
[G]The same people, the [D]same drinks
and the[C] same music,
[C7]the same quicksand.
[G]I think this h[D]arbour town is wai[C]st
deep and sinking fast[Cm7].
CHORUS:
[G]Hello ci[D]ty, Y[C]ou've found
an ene[C7]my in me. (Whoa,[G] whoa, whoa, w[D]hoa)[C] [Cadd9]
[G]Hello ci[D]ty, (H[C]ello city,) hell[C7]o city.
[G]Second nig[D]ht at the Warehouse,
[C]and my mock turt[C7]leneck just reek[G]s. (Whoa[D], whoa)[C] [C7]
[G]>From the liquor room to[D] the changeroom
[C]to the doom and gloom of[C7] the hotel room,[G]
I wish this se[D]aside beerhall would
[C]sink into the ba[Cm7]y.
CHORUS
Maybe I caught you at a bad time,
maybe I should call you back next week,
maybe half the fault was mine that
the sun didn't shine on Barrington Street.
[G]It's three o'cl[D]ock in the morning,[C]
and I'm hu[C7]ngry so let's e[G]at. [D](Whoa, wh[C]oa)[Cadd9]
[G]Climb down three flights to [D]the streetlights
[C]and the barfights, w[C7]e're just taking in the sig[G]hts.
I hope tomorrow t[D]hat I wake up in [C]my own bed.[Cm7]
CHORUS
What a good place to be,[G]
don't belie[D]ve them,
'Cause they spea[C]k a different language
and it's [C7]never been happy for me[G]. (It's happy hour
again, who[D]a, who[C]a)[Cadd9]
[GD]It's Happy Hour agai[G]n. (Who[D]a, whoa[C])[C7]
[G]Hello ci[D]ty,
[C] hello [Cm7]city.[G]
