Suggestions and corrections are always welcome!
date: 11/12/95
Dave Twisleton: For some reason, Christian likes putting chords in
the wrong order, and then rearranging mine too. So I'd better correct these!
(F and Bb are played with an Fsus4 (well probably with a 6 too, but I
can't work that out right. Sus4 will do!) like
F Fsus4 F F F F F Fsus4 F (1 strum for each chord there) Listen
to the song and it'll make sense)
(Intro)
[F] [Fsus4] [Bb] [Bbsus4]
Well we were b[F]orn within an hour of each other
Our mothers said we could be sister and brother
Your name is Deb[Bb]orah. Deborah - it never suited you
Oh and they sa[F]id that when we grew up
We4d get married and never split up
We never d[Bb]id it, although I often I thought of it
Oh Deborah, do you rec[Cm]all?[(Csus2)]
Your house was very sm[Cm]all with wood-chips on the w[Cm]all
When I came around to c[Cm]all you didn4t notice me at a[F]ll
And I said "L[Bb]et4s all meet up in the year 2000
W[Dm]on4t it be strange when we4re all fully gro[Gm]wn?
Be there two o4clock by the f[Cm]ountain down the [Fsus4]ro-----[F]ad"
[Bb]I never knew that you4d get married
[Dm]I would be living down here on my o[Gm]wn
On that damp and loney Th[Cm]ursday years a[F]go
You were the fi[F]rst girl in school to get breasts
Martyn said that you were the best
The boys all l[Bb]oved you but I was a mess
I had to watch them try to get you undressed
We were fr[F]iends that was as far as it went
I used to walk you home sometimes but it meant
Oh, it meant nothing t[Bb]o you - cos you were oh so popular
Oh Deborah, do you r[Cm]ecall?
Your house was very small with wood-chips on the wall
When I came around to call you didn4t notice me at a[F]ll
And I said "Le[Bb]t4s all meet up in the year 2000
[Dm]Won4t it be strange when we4re all fully gr[Gm]own?
Be there two o4clock by the f[Cm]ountain down the r[F]oad"
[Bb]I never knew that you4d get married
[Dm]I would be living down here on my [Gm]own
On that damp and loney T[Cm]hursday years a[F]go
[F] [Bb]
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Oh Deborah, do you re[Cm]call?
Your house was very small with wood-chips on the wall
When I came around to call you didn4t notice me at [F]all
And I said "L[Bb]et4s all meet up in the year 2000
[Dm]Won4t it be strange when we4re all fully g[Gm]rown?
Be there two o4clock by the fo[Cm]untain down the ro[F]ad"
[Bb]I never knew that you4d get married
[Dm]I would be living down here on my [Gm]own
On that damp and loney Thu[Cm]rsday years a[F]go
Oh, w[Bb]hat are you doing Sunday, baby?
[Dm]Would you like to come and meet me maybe?
[Gm]You can even bring your baby, [Cm]oh.[F]
Oh, w[Bb]hat are you doing Sunday, baby?
[Dm]Would you like to come and meet me maybe?
[Gm]You can even bring your baby, [Cm]oh. [F]ooh oh oh oh....
(Note: this is the album version, the 7" is slightly different!)
