Copperhead Road  Steve Earle

NOTE:--- On accoustic try cappo on 5th fret and reshape the chords----:

[]
[D] Well, my name's John Lee Peddimore.
Same as my daddy and his daddy's before.
You hardly ever saw grandaddy down here.
He'd only come to town about twice a year.
To buy a hundred pounds o' yeast and some copper line.
Everybody knew that we made moonshine.
[G] Now, the revenue man wanted [C9]granddaddy [G] bad.
[D] Headed up the holler with everything he had.
[G] Before my time, [C9] but I've been [G] told.
[D] He never come back from Copperhead Road.
[]
[D] Granddaddy ran whisky in a big black Dodge.
Bought it at an auction at the Mason's Lodge.
Johnson County Sheriff painted on the side.
Just shot coat of primer, then he looked inside.
Well, him and my uncle tore that engine down.
I still remember that rumbling sound.
[G] Then the sheriff came around in the [C9]middle of the [G]nite.
[D] Heard momma crying that something wasn't right.
[G] He was headed down to Knoxville with the [C9]weekly [G]load.
[D] You could smell the whisky burning down Copperhead Road.
[]
*Bridge*
[]
[D] I volunteered for the army on my birthday.
They draft the white trash first, round hear anyway.
I done two tours of duty in Viet Nam.
I came home with a brand new plan.
I'd take the seed from Columbia and Mexico.
I just planted up a holler down Copperhead Road.
[G] Now the D.E.A.'s got a [C9]chopper in the [G]air.
[D] I wake up screaming like I'm back over there.
[G] I learned a thing or two from [C9]Charley,
don't you [G]know.
[D] You better stay away from Copperhead Road.
Copperhead Road
Copperhead Road
Ha. Copperhead Road
[end]

Now if anyone knows the real TABs(Lead & Mandolin Bits) for this, not
just the chords (but more complex chords would be good too) Please
Post It.

It's "Pettimore"

I added in the c9 chords that were missing. this seems to be a very basic version. the D chord riffs involve playing a G note (lift pointer finger) and adding a B note (pinky finger on G string 4th fret)

The cords are just not there, it is an incomplete job. This should be improved.
