Possibility Days  Counting Crows

You will notice that the intro is repeated at the end of each chorus, until the last
few. Also, the Cmaj7 from the intro is sometimes used in the verse in place of C, but
that's really just improvisational. Sounds great of course, but it's not necessary.
There is one moment in the first pre-chorus where the 12-string plays an A note, which can
be played on a normal guitar as an A8 (octave). That octave also sounds good as a 5th if
you feel so inclined (I think it's easier). For the rest of the song that part is played
as a D. It makes for a slightly jarring transition, but it makes it quite satisfying when
the song falls into the predicted I-V-VI-IV pattern.
Capo 3
[Em] [G] [Cmaj7] [G]
[Em] [G] [Cmaj7]
Verse 1:
Was a [Em]cold 3 A[C]M at JF[G]K
I guess you [Em]stayed cause you [C]wanted to [G]stay
And we went from [Em]zero to [C]everything [G]all in a day
And then [Em]Kennedy [C]took you [G]away
Pre-chorus 1:
G A8(A5)
I thought of a short robe that was keeping you warm
And the [Em]moments that make up your [C]life till you wake up
You [G]sit on a swing and you [D]talk with the girl
She [Em]tells you she wanted to [C]kiss you
Chorus 1:
[(C)]And you know that
The [G]worst part of a good day is [D]hearing yourself say
Good[Em]bye to one more possi[C]bility day
It goes[Em] on[G] [Cmaj7] [G]
And o[Em]n..[G].[Cmaj7]
Verse 2:
I go [Em]west but your [C]weather has [G]changed
You're just [Em]scared, I mis[C]take it for [G]strange
When you want me to [Em]leave then you [C]start to be[G]lieve I should stay
I [Em]gotta get [C]out of L.[G]A.
Pre-chorus 2:
It seems like the [G]short days are [D]over
Cause you just don?t [Em]sleep in the daylight, so [C]I don?t sit up nights
I [G]lie on my back on [D]top of the hill
And your [Em]body is breaking the [C]sky 'cause you're shaking
Chorus 2:
And the [G]worst part of a good day is [D]knowing it's slipping
Aw[Em]ay, that's one more possi[C]bility day
It's [Em]gone.[G] [Cmaj7] [G]
[Em] [G] [Cmaj7]
Verse 3:
We were [Em]waiting for [C]winter this [G]year
But you [Em]came and it [C]never ap[G]peared
Me and you we know [Em]too many [C]reasons for [G]people and seasons
That [Em]pass like they [C]weren't even [G]here
Verse 4:
Now [Em]living in [C]smiles is [G]better you say
We [Em]carry the [C]burdens of [G]all of our days
So [Em]scared that you?ll leave,[C] you?re [G]scared that I'll stay
It's an [Em]impossi[C]bility [G]day
And we [Em]only saw [C]half the ball[G]et
Pre-chorus 3:
I said [G]good night, [D]goodbye
Seems like a [Em]good thing, so you know it's a [C]good lie
You can [G]run out of choices and [D]still hear a voice in your
[Em]Head when you?re lying in [C]bed
Chorus 3:
[(C)]And it says that
The [G]best part of a bad day is [D]knowing it's ok
The [Em]color of everything [C]changes
The sky rear[G]ranges its shade, and your s[D]mile doesn?t fade
Into the [Em]phone call and one bad de[C]cision we made
Chorus 4:
And the [G]worst part of a good day is the [D]one thing you don?t say
And [Em]you don?t know how but you [C]wish there was some way
So you p[G]ull down the shades, and you [D]shut out the light
Because [Em]somehow we mixed up "goodb[C]ye" and "goodnight"
Chorus 5:
And the [G]one thing you don't say is [D]everyone knows
Possi[Em]bility days are im[C]possible
It just feel[Em]s wron[G]g[Cmaj7] [G]
So[Em] wrong[G]..[Cmaj7].[G]
Now you'r[Em]e gone[G] [Cmaj7] [G]
Long [Em]gone..[D/F#].[C] [F]
