Jim Wise  Sun Kil Moon

[C] [F] [C] [Am] [G]
[C]Spent the day with my dad and his old f[F]riend, Jim W[C]ise.
He's on house a[Am]rrest and he sits arou[G]nd and sighs.
[C]We brought him food from Panera Bread, the s[F]noring son rolled out of bed,
[Am]He talked about his ninety Corvette, his [G]warehouse job, and his knee replacement.
[C]Jim Wise mercy killed his wife in a [F]hospital at her beds[C]ide,
And he put the gun [Am]to his head and it ja[G]mmed and he didn't die.
[C]He awaits trial all summer long and his e[F]yes welled up when he told [C]us
about how much she l[Am]oved the backyard ga[G]rden and the budding rosebush.
[F] [C]
She loved the ga[Am]rden, and its budding r[G]osebush.
Spent the d[F]ay with my dad, and his friend Jim W[C]ise.
[C]Spent the day with my dad and his old f[F]riend, Jim W[C]ise.
He's got a big thick a[Am]nkle bracelet and he c[G]an't go outside.
[C]He's got a long white Amish man's beard and a[F] cathe[C]ter,
And he'll be headed to M[Am]ansfield prison by the e[G]nd of the year for sure.
[C]His shelves are sticky old ratt[F]y boards,
[F]His albums are The Doors and Stevie Nicks,
[Am]His kitchen cabinets are full of baked beans,
[G]His TV is silent, words flash across the screen
and [C]he stares off into dead air.
[C]Jim Wise killed his wife out of love for h[F]er at her beds[C]ide.
And then he put the gun [Am]to his head but he fa[G]iled at suicide.
[C]His trial's coming up in the fall and he si[F]ghed when we stepped out and we l[C]eft.
And I pointed out the pr[Am]etty cardinal p[G]erched on the empty birdbath.
[F] [C]
The bright red [Am]cardinal, the empty b[G]irdbath.
Spent the d[F]ay with my dad and his friend Jim[C] Wise.
