Cornerstone  Arctic Monkeys

I should note before this that this is not my work, credit should go to 'mellon_c' of
official Arctic Monkeys forum, I'm simply posting it here to share with a wider audience,
I did was fit music to lyrics. It's also not my responsibility if you don't have the
it leaked a few days ago and you can probably still find it about on various sites.
Guitar 1 (Alex Turner)
Intro
[A]
Verse 1
[A]I thought I saw you in the battleship
[D]but it was only a loo[Bm]k-a-like
[A]She was nothing but a vision trick
[D]Under the warni[Bm]ng light
[F#m]She was close, close[A] enough to be your ghost[F#m]
[A]But my chances turned to toast
[D]When i asked her if i could cal[Bm]l her your name[A]
Verse 1 (cont) (Same pattern)
I thought I saw you in the rusty hook
Huddled up in a wicker chair
I wandered over for a closer look
And kissed who ever was sitting there
She was close, and she held me very tightly
'Til I asked awfully politely, please
Can I call you her name
(To transition into the chorus you can continue playing A then F#m)
Chorus
[D]And I elongated my lift home,[Bm]
[F#m]Yeah, I let him go the long way 'round[D]
[Bm]I smelt your scent on the seatbelt
[E]And kept my shortcuts to myself
A D Bm (Come in with A at the end of the chorus and play these chords like in the verse)
Verse 2 (Same Pattern)
[A]I thought I saw you in the parrots beak,
[D]Messing with the smoke al[Bm]arm,
[A]It was too loud for me to hear her speak,
[D]And she had a broken a[Bm]rm,
[F#m]It was close, so clo[A]se that the walls were wet[F#m]
[A]And she wrote it out in letra-set
[D]No, you can'[Bm]t call me her name[C#m]
Bridge
[A]Tell me where's your hiding plac[C#m]e
[A]I'm worried I'll forge[C#m]t your face
[F#m]And I've asked everyone
[Bm]I'm beginning to think I imagined y[E]ou all along
Chorus
[D]And I elongated my lift home,[Bm]
[F#m]Yeah, I let him go the long way 'round[D]
[Bm]I smelt your scent on the seatbelt
[Dm]And kept my shortcuts to myself
Solo
A D Bm x2 (Play this like you would in the verse)
[F#m] [Bm]
[D] [E]
Verse 3
[A]I saw your sister in the cornerstone
[D]On the phone to the middle man[Bm]
[A]When I saw that she was on her own
[D]I thought she might understand[Bm]
[F#m]She was close, well you couldn't [A]get much closer
[F#m]She said i'm rea[A]lly not supposed to but yes,[D]
You can call me anything you want[A]
Fade out.
You may want to work out strumming and timing for yourself especially in the bridge and
where it gets a bit different. It's overall a pretty simple song from the new album.
Tabbed by Robert Farrell 28 July 2009.
