Southern Cross  Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

Intro: [A] [G] [D]  -- [A] [G] [D] [A]
Got outta t[A]own on a b[G]oat to southern isl[D]ands
Sailing a re[A]ach bef[G]ore a following s[D]ea
She was mak[A]ing for the t[G]rades on the out[D]side
And the dow[A]nhill run[G] to Papeete bay[D]
Off this wi[A]nd on this hea[G]ding lie the Marqu[D]eses
We got eig[A]hty feet of the wate[G]rline nic[D]ely ma[G]king w[A]ay
In a noi[A]sy bar in Aval[G]on I tried to call [D]you
But on a mid[A]night watch I [G]realized why tw[D]ice you [G]ran aw[A]ay
(chorus)Think[A] about
Th[G]ink about how ma[D]ny times [G]I have fall[A]en
Sp[G]irits are u[D]sing me l[G]arger voices cal[A]ling
Wh[G]at heaven brought y[D]ou and me c[G]annot be for[A]gotten
I have been arou[D]--[G]nd the wor[A]ld
L[D]ooking for that [G]woman gir[A]l
W[D]ho knows love c[G]an endure[A]
And you know it will[A]  [G]              [D]
And you know it will[A]  [G]              [D]
When you s[A]ee the Southern [G]Cross for the fir[D]st time
You under[A]stand now wh[G]y you came this [D]way
Cause the tr[A]uth you might be r[G]unnin from is so [D]small
But its as b[A]ig as the pro[G]mise
The pr[D]omise of a c[G]oming da[A]Y
So Im s[A]ailing for t[G]ommorrow my dreams are a d[D]ying
And my l[A]ove is an a[G]nchor tied to you
[D]Tied with a s[G]ilver c[A]hain
I have my s[A]hip and a[G]ll her flags are a f[D]lying
She is a[A]ll that I have l[G]eft
And m[D]usic I[G]s her n[A]ame
(chorus)Think[A] about
Th[G]ink about how ma[D]ny times [G]I have fall[A]en
Sp[G]irits are u[D]sing me l[G]arger voices cal[A]ling
Wh[G]at heaven brought y[D]ou and me c[G]annot be for[A]gotten
I have been arou[D]--[G]nd the wor[A]ld
L[D]ooking for that [G]woman gir[A]l
W[D]ho knows love c[G]an endure[A]
And you know it will[A]  [G]              [D]
And you know it will[A]  [G]              [D]
So we c[A]heated and we [G]lied and we t[D]ested
And we n[A]ever failed to f[G]ail
It was the e[D]asiest t[G]hing to d[A]o
Yo[A]u will sur[G]vive being b[D]ested
Somebody f[A]ine will c[G]ome along
Make me fo[D]rget about lo[G]ving yo[A]u
At the southern cross..[A]...[G]......[D].

Thanks for the chords to this song. Great job. I updated the chord placement so it matches the recording. Hope this helps!

If you transpose down two semitones - the chords become G - F - C - and the "nicely making way" change becomes C - Am - G - which seems easier to me. Then - if you stick a capo on the 2nd fret it beings the tone back up. I have not compared this to a recording - and I am a drummer so all sorts of stuff that is probably awful sounds OK to me - but I like it.
