The Curse of Perfect Days Emery
This song is played half step higher from standard tuning. I believe they tune
their guitars up, but I
just use a capo on the firs fret and works just the same. So the tuning I end up
using is Drop D with
capo on 1st fret, so all of these chords are up a half step...
Chords used (capo = open string) for intro:
B6 (or G/B) Em G There is also another chord sometimes used in the song, its some form
e-----------|----|---| of D without the rd (so idk if it is a Dm or Dmaj), so I just call it a D, b-----------|----|---| but I play just the bass notes open (DAD) g-----------|----|---| d-7---------|-2--|-3-| a-8---------|-2--|-3-| d-7---------|-2--|-3-|
All, or most, chords can be played regularly, except that you have to accommodate
for the dropped d. Also, if you want to you can play most of the other strings
open.
*Verse/Intro*
And you knew e[B6]xactl[Em]y when[G]
[B6] you gave your heart a[Em]nd all of it[G] [Em]
[B6]Without a thou[Em]ght of what[G] you meant

(There is another guitar playing the melody, but I usually play it on the d
string. it is mostly just switching between the noes E and D)
D (open) Em D Em (quickly switch between open fret and 2nd fret)
[Em]Tell me that I'm a fool That I've exaggerated [C]the situation [Am]
[Em]'Cause I've never been scared like this Of losing more than I[C] have to give[Am]
*Pre-Chorus*
For this part I will use a small tab to show you how I play it. Im sure that this
is meant for two guitars, but I will just show you how I play it. You can let all
strings ring if you want to.
(x2 as in play that part twice before moving on)

But [C]I can't take my eyes off of you
*Chorus*

And we were still so cool
Our bodies smooth and young (bodies [Em]smooth and young)
The dreams of getting older[C]
Were never supposed to come (were never supposed to come)
The curse of perfect days[G]
You forget just what you've made (forget ju[Em]st what you've made)
And you find yourself just praying[C]
For something more than this life
Em (slide up to) G
Something more than this l i f e

[Em]We wait for the doctors, to prescribe their[D] medicines
[Em]And hold their bad news, as if later it wil[D]l make more sense
[Em]But I've never been scared like this (It's so unfair)
Just waiti[D]ng for my strength to give (I thought I could handle this)
[Em]But this is the rock, I broke my[B6]self against (I swore I could fix anything)
We believe[C]d we'd have our way (And we di[Em]d, and we did)
The me[C]mories we have made (Everyday [G]was the best [Fmaj11]day of my life)
I could ne[C]ver repay what I owe (I'll re[Em]place, I'll reload)
[C]Even though I read t[Am]he ending before the st[G]art
[Fmaj11]I would have never changed a single part
*This part is palm muted and played with only the bass notes*
[G] [Am] [Em] [C]
