Rivers  Frank Turner

My first chords, dont be too mean ;) Can't believe noones uploaded this yet! One of my
favs from the new album, had to be done.
A/E means play the bass note E (3rd string).
G-A or E- means quickly strum the chord preceding the "-" before going straight back to
the following chord (So for the E-, its E then A). This just adds a little something to
the song.
Also, I find it sounds nice to play the A with the G string open (Making it A7 perhaps?
I'm no expert 002200). Hope this helps!

[E] [G] [G-A] [E]
[E]Our history runs d[A/E]own our r[E-]ivers
A B? E
Down our rivers to the sea
[E]Reminds us of the t[A/E]hings that m[E-]atter
A B? E
Home and heart and history
[E]And all our [A/E]sins will be forgiv[E-]en
A B? E
Washed away to set us free
[E]By the rivers that run t[A/E]hrough our homesteads[E-]
A B? E
By myth and modal melody
[F#]I traced these rivers from the [A]cities to the seas
To r[E]emind me of what I already k[B]now
[F#]I traced the shorelines through a t[A]housand esturies
To r[E]emind me an island is my h[B]ome
An island is my h[E]ome
I traveled far across this country
Northumberland to Southern Downs
I wandered up the rolling Humber
And down the Thames to London town
Countless lives were lived and lingered
In the cuts, swerves, and the fells
I left a tapestry called England
And life and those who lived it well
I traced these rivers from the cities to the seas
To remind me of what I already know
I traced the shorelines through a thousand histories
To remind me an island is my home
An island is my home
Round here the sky is a little closer
A little closer to the ground
It's hard for someone to get lost here
Harder still to get found
Though I've seen a thousand rivers
From the Mississippi to the Rhine
The only place that I'll lay my hat down
Is by an English riverside
I traced these rivers from the cities to the seas
To remind me of what I already know
I traced the shorelines through a thousand histories
To remind me an island is my home
An island is my home
[E]So place your trust in[F#]to the sea
[A]It's kept us safe for c[B]enturies
[E]It shaped our shores and [F#]steadily
[A]Its care has brought us, c[B]alm
[E]When I die, I h[F#]ope to be
[A]buried out in English s[B]eas
[E]So all that then r[F#]emains of me
[A]Will lap against these s[B]hores
Until England is no m[E]ore
