Keep playing the chords, but take your finger off the B for the first chord and
use your third finger to play the riff on the second chord.
Sorry if I haven't made this clear enough!
On the verse use hammer-ons on the low E to the 2nd fret, then to the 3rd fret to
change chords from D to G.
You should be able to work out which notes of the chord to hammer on, just listen to the song.
[D]Let me tell you all a little story of the things I've [G]found,
[D]Hanging out and drinking with my friends in the cathedral [G]grounds,
[D]And later dodging drunks as we dance along Jury [G]Street,
[D]As we wander up town to the railway our friends to[G] meet,
There's [A]something about coming back to y[Em]our hometown again,
The [G]place where you grew up and where you found your firmest friends,
And though [A]none of them still live here, I've [Em]got nowhere to go,
I'm a W[G]essex Boy and when I'm here I'm [D]home
[D]Let me tell you all a little story of the things I've [G]lost,
[D]Huddling for warmth on the top step of the Butter[G]cross,
[D]Sitting on the benches by the bridges at the rive[G]rside,
Of [D]counting down the hours for the buses cause I missed my [G]ride
There's [A]something about coming back to yo[Em]ur hometown again,
The [G]place where you grew up and where you found your firmest friends,
And though [A]none of them still live here, I've g[Em]ot nowhere to go,
I'm a We[G]ssex Boy, a Wessex boy and when I'm here I'm [Bm]home
[Bm]And one day I will h[G]ear this song an[A]onymous and [D]sweet,
[Bm]Ringing out from a b[G]uskers guitar on the a[A]ncient city [D]streets,
[Bm]I'll stand along whil[G]e and smile before I c[A]ontinue on the [D]road,
[A]And somebody else will sing the words and [G]I'll feel like I'm home

 E---10--7--5-------------------------|
 B------------7--5--3--3--0-----------|
 G--------------------------2---------|
 D----------------------------4--2--0-|
 A------------------------------------|
 E------------------------------------|

There's [A]something about hometowns you [Em]never can escape
The [G]triumphs and the tragedies and those of little faith
The [A]welling of nostalgia and [Em]feeling kind of strange,
Cause[G] despite the little changes yeah this place still feels the same
There's [A]something about coming back to [Em]your hometown again,
The [G]place where you grew up and where you found your firmest friends,
And though [A]none of them still live here, I've [Em]got nowhere to go,
I'm a W[G]essex Boy,
I'm a W[G]essex boy and when I'm here I'm [D]home
