Big River  Johnny Cash

Ive noticed that all the Big River version are in the wrong key, soim puting it up the
way,(i know its the right way cause its the way me and my dad played it with Johnny years
and johnny never played in G hardly less it was capo'd cause he couldnt sing in G..He
it in E.So here ya go Big River the Cash Way.
You can play this intro inbetween verses if you like.

Now [E]I taught the weeping willow how to cry,
And I showed the clouds how to cover up a c[F#]lear blue [B7]sky.
[E]And the tears that I cried for that woman are gonna [A]flood you Big River.
Then [E]I'm gonna sit right [B7]here until I d[E]ie
I m[E]et her accidentally in St. Paul (Minnesota).
And it tore me up every time I heard her d[F#]rawl, Southern d[B7]rawl.
Then I h[E]eard my dream was back Downstream cav[A]ortin' in Davenport,
And I follow[E]ed you, Big[B7] River, when you ca[E]lled.
Then you to[E]ok me to St. Louis later on (down the river).
A freighter said she's been here but she's g[F#]one, boy, she's g[B7]one.
I foun[E]d her trail in Memphis, but she [A]just walked up the block.
She raised a few[E] eyebrows and then she wen[B7]t on down a[E]lone.
Now, won't yo[E]u batter down by Baton Rouge, River Queen, roll it on.
Take that woman on down to New[F#] Orleans, New O[B7]rleans.
Go [E]on, I've had enough, dump my b[A]lues down in the gulf.
S[E]he loves you, Big[B7] River, more than [E]me.
Now I[E] taught the weeping willow how to cry,
And I showed the clouds how to cover up a c[F#]lear blue [B7]sky.
[E]And the tears that I cried for that woman are gonna [A]flood you Big River.
E B7 E......E7
Then I'm gonna sit right here until I die

This is definitely the authentic way to play the song. Just something about the lyrics. Too much copy&pasting in tab world.
There's some juicy american language in this one:
It's not "but she just walked up the block" or even "off the bus" but "she'd just walked up the bluff" (bluff: steep river shore)
Also it's not "...enough, dump my blues down in the Gulf" but "...enough, of my blues down in the guff" (Guff: a Jewish idea, something like the home off all souls; the body that houses it, or something.
